I'll do that this weekend. Another thing my temperature guage has never worked since I've had the car it goes from dead to blue when I turn it on but never moves from there so I guess if my car overheated and it is the headgasket I wouldn't have known although I never seen smoke coming from the hood... So since I may be spending some cash fixing all this what should I check to get my temp guage to work.

Key is in the on position, cel works just test doesnt happen idk why but im guessing my head gasket is blown due to the fact my oil level is higher than usual and the oil is realy runny ive also lost some coolant with no hose leaks :( so i guess im going to gather the materials to do this job myself as i dont have the money to get a shop to do it.

I couldn't tell ya. I press the pedal to the floor  and release 5 consecutive times fairly quickly but not too quick and wait nothing happens I've tried over and over but nothing

Ok so my car was running fine after i did the mess under the intake. After driving for a while my car now sputters really bad as its idling and when im driving my check engine light will go off and on, sometimes in first gear my car will jerk forward a bit. Ive sprayed carb cleaner checked for vacuum leaks didnt find any so everything is tightened up good, tried to do a stomp test but nothing happens when i do so i cant get any codes to check where the problem may be. I have no clue were to start here. o2 sensor maybe? dont think its ever been changed, maybe a problem with me ecu?

Decided to try it again this morning and now it starts goes to about 2krpm then dies instanly. Maybe my icv is dead although it seemed to be keeping it alive last night it was just running rough, engine shaking, sounded like random missing.

Good news! Just got done getting rid of the heater plate, followed the mess under the intake thread. Started my car up and she ran great idled steady just under 1k. Its 28 degrees outside usually this would cause my car to barely run but not anymore :) So glad I got that all settled I guess i just had a leak somewhere that i had missed before much better only having a couple lines to worry about.

Just went over the mess under the intake thread. So basicly just one new line from the coolant line to the head to get rid of all the stupid heater plate mess then a vacuum line from the left of the valve cover to the boot and from the other side of the boot to the icv and im good to go. Think ill definately be looking into doing this today working around with all those hoses is ridiculous.

I kept it all how it was stock no deletes.
Just got done taking it apart again, everything was attached securely, I cleaned everything up real good, something I should have done the first time. I did notice the little tiny hose that goes into the back left part of the throttle body had a huge rip in it I guess I did that trying to get it reatached so I'm gonna need to replace that, for the time being I taped it up tight tomorrow I'll try to start her up again and update

Gonna take it apart again and look a everything after work today also gonna clean my throttle body up real good which is something that was dumb not to do anyway it's most likely some little thing I missed I'll try to get a video up if none of this fixes the proble

So i replaced all my vacuum lines double checked everything before putting the intake manifold back on and started my car up and it idled much better and smoother than it has since ive owned the car, which i expected but shortly after it all went wrong. I turned it off then went back out a few minutes later to start it up and  now it only runs if im applying the gas (dies if i let off of it completely) and im smelling something coming from the front of the car, like gasoline and i hear a hissing sound i checked the lines running into the icv they're secure from what i could feel under the manifold nothing else was loose im wondering if theres anything else that could be causing this problem?

car is an e30 1991 318i m42

Hi new to the forums here just purchased my first e30/m42.
Its a 91 318i with 220k on it still running good paid just under 1k for it.
