M42 Buyer's Guide / Re: Dbilas or RHD Itbs!
« on: February 12, 2017, 05:41:35 PM »
The post comparing the two are here.

http://www.m42club.com/forum/index.php?topic=18442.225

Take note of the comments and digest the differences between the two comparisons as they are not like for like or a true Dbilas vs RHD comparison.

The RHD kit is on a newer M44 engine with mild exhaust mods.
The Dbilas kit is on a 230,000km M42 engine with full exhaust and a road tune aftermarket ecu. The Dbilas kit was modified to a state close to the RHD.

As the owner of the Dbilas kit in this comparison, I would recommend the buying the RHD kit as it is ultimately closer to where I modified the Dbilas kit to be. Something (for me) the extra $500 would justify.

Assuming your ecu is not the constraint, I have had success with Bosch igniters in my project. If budget constrained you can build you own using BIP373 chips.

I believe its fed directly from the diff using a magnetic pickup on a "chopper" wheel. A image search should give the number of pulses per revolution.

Hi,

Can confirm coil drivers are on the dme. I built a 4 channel driver using bip373 kits from diyautotune if 4 channel drivers are hard to get or eye watering expensive as they in my part of the world this ua an economic solution.

Would a shift light not be better warning of the impending rev limiter instead of hitting the limiter losing power and shifting? Probably much easier to install, and there are ones which can be tuned for each gear..

Now its moving! Did you change gear set/final drive? Looks like the package is really coming together.

Any plans for north island rallys?

Engine management / Re: Injector sizing
« on: March 21, 2016, 03:13:52 AM »
Be aware there are differences between years. My 92 m42 had different injectors to my spare 96 engine. I did some research and found they were different sizes. I naively used the larger size. A flow pattern may have been a better assessment.

Started as one is inference that it certainly isn't stock now!

Would love to have more detail but unfortunately don't. Maybe another member could help? It certainly accelerates and corners exceptionally well.
