it died the other day 
alternator shorted out which caused the oil pump to fail... it the carried on running with no pump, the big end bearings exploded and it blew an end cap off a con rod. smokie everywhere, no oil leaks supprisingly though. still runs but sounds like a machine gun now... oh and its missing on one cylinder. what can i do? how much will this cost to fix/replace?

throttle position sensor. get it plugged in and see what errors the ecu chucks up. mines doing this im sorting it today the tps is telling the ecu the engine isnt running at idle speeds because its failing. this causes the ecu to stop the fueling which makes it cut out

cheers for that mate, plugged it in again today after replacing the knock sensors to find the tps sensor has failed as well. that would explain the poor idling and pulling away because the tps is telling the ecu that the engine isnt running.

my engine is making a weird tickin noise which speeds up with the revs. its not the oil level or anything as i serviced it today (new oil and filter etc) what could that be? also the engine management light is on which gave an error code of knock sensor. where is the knock sensor on a m42 engine, how hard is it to change and what are symptoms of one that has failed as i want to know exactly what its doing. the engine feels like its trying to clear its throat around 2-3k then revs as usual again whilst in neutral and in gear. help me please!
