I've searched around today and saw serge everywhere. There where lots of people with similar problems, most of the time it seemed like parts salesmen were trying to sale a lot of parts not related to the problem, heater valves and senors shouldn't have much to do with a overheating issue. my 2nd bmw(black one I think needs a head gasket.my 1st one the red I gave to my step-son.
I  had the prob on it's head gasket repair, and a honda kid said to me did you bleed it so I learned about that.
After I gave it to the kid. We learned that there were two thickness of head gaskets for this model 325i.He paid a guy his dad knows 1400 to redo the head and work on the tranny and he also replaced a few other things. I think the kid got a pretty good deal four the amount of parts replaced and work.the center drive shaft bearing went out next. and we found that the good deal service guy,put the guibo in one hole off making it backward, and the screws hadn't been fully tightened and one was gone.
the current crisis he had to be picked up in jackssonville the local shade tree there said the timing belt wass probably off. We did a TDC check and it said all was good changed a fuse and it started up fine. Oh yeah I forgot to say that I took the a/c off like 8 months. and it's ran fine no overheating. actually there was no overheating problem then we figure the timing felt like it might be loose and maybe timing slipped. Once we got the hoses off and the radiator out i noticed of the two wires they run in frontther by the metal hose and the pulleys the crank position  senor wire had rub on the pulley and was probably grounding out. i told the kid to tape it up and try to start it,that little red race car started right up.NOw we can't seem to get it bled out right when the other ywo times really didn't take that long
