Yeah, the quench is off by about .043 inches.  We're going to have the machine shop zero deck the block and use a .040 MLS gasket, and the heads will get milled a bit as well..  I'm more worried about the quench height than compression because we're also considering adding an Eaton supercharger from a Mercedes C class.  Then just need to figure out the offset for the cam gears.  Maybe I should start a build thread...   :)

Hi, I'm building an M42 to stuff into a 2002.  I want to bore it out to accept 85mm M44 pistons because I can't find any overbore pistons for the M42 except forged ones for $750 and OEM Mahles for $1100.  There aren't any complete M44 sets on eBay at the moment, just scrapyards trying to gouge people for a single piston + rod.  I don't need or want the rods, and I'm looking to spend about $200 + shipping at the most.  Anyone have a set laying around?
