Very nice job! What steering rack do you have? I have a Z3 rack in mine and would never go back.

It is a lot of trouble for just getting recirc working, but I like for stuff to work!

I hear ya. My car is very clean and un-molested so I'm salting to think its the wiring from the stereo.

You guys ROCK!

I have been having a similar problem for the last two years! Started off with fog in the car in winter, so of course Blunt sent me a new heater core. No difference. So then I took my stereo apart to see if my extra wiring back there got in the way as I started to notice outside smells when recirc was on.

This thread gives me new stuff to look at.

Thanks!

I'd like pictures of the bottoms of the doors. Inside and out if the panels are off.

Swaps, Turbos, Buildups / M42 head work
« on: November 19, 2011, 04:29:12 PM »
I would be careful here. When dealing with older designs it's easy to make improvments by using your eye and motor theory, but working with something as modern as an M42 it's very possible to make it worse not better.

If it were me and I wasn't paying someone with vast experience with these heads, I would go for the thinner valve stems and try to taper the guides a bit. Then maybe smooth out any irregularities.

If MM is getting a 6% improvement with all their resources, I'm sure the potential to do harm is high.

It does sound a little high. For that money it should have at least euro weavs or RS's. A little over a year ago one sold in PA for 7500 and the guy that sold it is regretting it. There was a nice one in MN with 112K that went for 9K I think. Both cars were PERFECT.

I wouldn't let mine go for less than 5K and it's not for sale at the moment.
