Engine + Driveline / Re: m42 con rod bolts
« on: April 14, 2017, 12:35:30 AM »
After going back and fourth with VAC multiple times I finally have the correct set in my hands.

ARP PN 201-6301. I believe this is also the same set for a 2.5L m50.

Although I have now found that that OEM bolts are an equivalent hardness to ARP2000 and are the better option.

I have just ordered a set of ARP head studs for my m42.

Has anyone used these before and where can I find the proper torque specs and sequence?

Has anyone on here used ARP connecting rod bolts in an m42 before?

I have just purchased a set of ARP con rod bolts from VAC motorsports.

The length of the new bolts is 47mm, where as the originals removed from my motor are 53mm.

RealOEM shows a part number for both a 53mm and 47mm connecting rod bolt.

VAC says that they are okay to use, but I am skeptical.

Almost every unopened m42 will need the timing case guides, tensioner and new idler sprocket. Cam sprockets and crank sprocket can be reused if they are still flat on top of the gears.

Would be worth taking apart the bottom end. I just stripped down my m42 and another m42 that I bought for the head. Both had destroyed bearings. Crankshaft and pistons appear to the within spec fortunately.

These engines were both running and at 210000kms/145000kms to give perspective.

Does anyone have any information on the e36 build in this Article?
http://www.speedhunters.com/2009/07/event_gt_gt_tuning_powers_pt_2/

Says that it was built my OSP Racing, but can't find anything from google.

I assume it is a Japanese build.

Both mirrors aren't working. Does anyone have a more recent link?
