The extra wheels are oxidized but I have seen people work wonders with cleaner. Like I mentioned before the tires are like new. $150 for wheels and tires pick up only.

I will sell the spare set of wheels with the newish tires seperate. I drove the car for the first time yesterday since March and it required a jump and after a few miles it looks like the battery might be bad so I am asking $1500 with the spare wheels and tires and $1350 without. Also comes with original manual, haynes manual, and a new Bentley manual. Looking to sell asap.

CAR IS SOLD, THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HELP WHILE I WAS WORKING ON IT

Now I know what it feels like to put your kid up for sale...

Moving soon and have nowhere to continue the work on this project so I am forced to sell it.

CL Link http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/cto/1849614763.html

She starts and runs great with a lot of new parts.

The good
-Working power windows
-To tune the car up I have replaced the following and all have less than 200 miles on them.
-I also inspected the timing while I did the water pump and it looks to have been done recently before I bought the car.
-Fuel Filter
-Air Filter
-Valve Cover Gasket
-Spark Plug Gaskets
-Plugs
-O2 Sensor
-Intake Manifold Gasket
-Throttle Body Gasket
-Crankshaft Seal
-Alternator Belt
-WATER PUMP W/GASKET
-Fan Clutch
-Temperature Sending Unit
-Temp Sensor
-Temp Switch
-Radiator
-Dynomax Super Turbo Muffler with new exhaust from the cat back
-New Roundels Front and Back
-Sunroof Replaced
-I have a second set of 14 inch basket weaves with new tires on them and two centercaps along with the spare so that is 9 BBS wheels total
-I did the popular "mess under the intake" fix for this car by removing the useless throttle body heater plate and replacing the vac lines.
-Front lip is from a volvo which is a popular replacement

The Bad
-Suspension + Brakes are worn
-Only rust on car is small amount on the inside edge of where the trunk closes
-While the back seat is in good condition the fronts are needing to be replaced and I took the carpet out
-A few small dents on body that will be easy to remove
-I have the original front strut towers with the wheel speed sensor but the previous owner did not install the wheel speed sensor when he replaced it so I have unplugged the ABS.
-Odometer is at 86,000 or so miles and does not work

Not looking to entertain tire kickers, feel free to email me if you want to see the car. I have the title available.

General Topics / Found a diff now I need advice.
« on: February 16, 2010, 08:49:24 PM »
So...

I found a 4.10 LSD from a 91 325is for $120. I am hoping to purchase this as an upgrade for my 91 318is that is sporting an open diff at the moment. I have found a lot of conflicting info over which is best and what will fit so I figured I would just ask for advice. So far the only thing I know is what I already mentioned and that it has around 100k miles on it and is in "good" condition.

My 318is is not my DD and while I want to keep it "street-able" I am trying to get as much track performance out of it as I can. Any advice would be great!

Thank you!

I went with a dynomax super turbo. It works well and it will keep me going while I fix everything else up, later on I will revisit it and maybe pick up something a little more "race spec".

Nice, yeah I had a 87 N/A 300zx and a 84 300zx 50th anniversary turbo that was a pretty fun drive. Well I wanted to post some updates to keep me motivated.

Once I put everything back together from doing the "mess under the intake" mod I went to bleed the coolant system and only steam came out until the temps got really high. After doing a bit of troubleshooting I got bored at work one day and priced out how much it would cost to just swap the entire coolant system for peace of mind. I ended up placing an order from pelican for overnight shipping to get it in time to work on it over the weekend.

Luckily the radiator in it was new (I suspect it had cooling issues they tried to fix and gave up) so the rest of the parts were pretty cheap.

Parts

Parts pile growing... Getting a larger apartment with a larger garage in a month or so... thank jebus...

Engine with old waterpump still intact.

Guess which one is the old one!

Figured I would clean things up a little while I could reach everything. I really wish I would have had the intake manifold and the valve cover cleaned up a little better and maybe powdercoated but I can do that later.

Girlfriend came down to help at just the right time. I was trying to replace the sensors under the intake manifold and her hands are much smaller than mine.

Car put all back together and running great. Couldn't wait to take it for a test drive and it really needed gas so I took it on a quick spin without the hood... or exhaust... but I think most e30's end up doing that at least once.

I have been sanding and painting the trim today and will be dropping it off at the exhaust shop for the new magnaflow setup and I will be moving on to brakes, tires, suspension. Also working on a front Volvo lip but I am only going to use it if I can use a heatgun to bend the sides down.

Engine + Driveline / Cooling Questions
« on: July 19, 2009, 11:44:15 PM »
unfortunately I had a bad habit of buying z31 turbos... I have always wanted a 240z but would settle on a 260z for a v8 swap. I spent a few months looking for a good candidate but even in Florida everything I could find was rusted pretty bad.

I just wanted to thank everyone for all the help. Just finished getting everything back together and she started right up and the bleeding instructions worked flawless. Left it running for about 20 minutes before taking it on a test drive with the temps staying below half the entire drive.

My girlfriend came down to help me out, my hands were a bit large to reach the sensors.

Can you tell which one is the old one?

Thank you, yeah I am used to the prices and labor involved in working on Z's so when I saw how much it would cost just to replace these parts the experience alone was worth it. I have been following your project since I bought the car and your progress has been a large motivator along with everyone else's.

Hopefully today will end with the car being back on the road but I have learned never to rule out another parts order. Thank you for the advice and I will follow the instructions you provided once I get everything back together.

Well getting TO the water pump was pretty simple but I spent

two hours trying to get the damn thing out with no luck. I tried using the top

and bottom threaded wholes like in the instructions but the end result is a

broken bolt in the top one and I broke off a piece of the water pump flange

on the bottom. Tonight I will be taking the hood off to get a better angle, I

might have to build a tool to get this out.

Congrats and great to know. I will run any new part orders by you first before paying to have stuff shipped from California again. Should I just PM you or do you have another method of contact that you prefer for your parts company? My next focus will be tires or maybe wheels and tires, suspension, and brakes. I also need to get a new sunroof panel and the hardware for it.
