Off-topic discussion / ENGINES IMPORTED TO SOUTH AFRICA
« on: October 29, 2015, 04:47:47 AM »
HI GUYS,I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS.
firstly i would like to apologies for making a new topic if this already had been discussed.
ok , so basically i drive a beautiful e36 m42 ,and the downfall of my vehicle is that its smoking when i put it down.also the timing chain was making noise forever.i tried several mods to try and quieten it down which did work ,but for a month or so and starts making noise again, oil pressure is perfect, brand new tensioner, brand new guides (all 5) brand new chain, brand new chain housing. but nothing seems to work.
so im deciding to buy a complete motor and gearbox in December. the place im buying it from normally imports engines from japan .USA and other places.
what i would like to know is that many people tell me the engine from cars are removed if they reach certain mileage in other countries. and the mileage is under 100k. is that true.
and if i do end up buyn 1, do i have to replace the chain and other guides from and also do rings and bearings again ? if thats the case then i rather do my complete motor.

thanks in advance. pardon me if i went wrong anywhere.
