« on: October 29, 2012, 10:00:20 AM »
This is a used set of BMW OEM coils with around 25k miles on them for anyone looking to do the COP conversion. It's been a few years since I've had my m42 BMW so I no longer need them.

$100 shipped.

Holy cow! that's some crazy stuff right there. I like how you kept part of the front bumper to be legal. haha.

Since you seem to be more into racing, you should sell off those Euro Corners for extra cash for race parts.;)

I'm currently running 275/35-15s on a 15x10.5" wheel on my autocross 2002 (which is street legal, fwiw),

Pics? Also what kind of drivetrain are you running to support those meaty tires? I didn't realize there were tires still made in those sizes.

Doesn't the wide tires sacrifice some of your steering, especially in an auto-x situation vs. road racing?

Wow, are you generalizing me? Please don't do that.
So by your implication age > 30 = taste? sheesh. I'll have to remember that when a new member comes on here and I have the information he needs.

Yes, i'm 27. Yes I do enjoy the euro stretched look and I was just toying with the idea about getting the front gap reduced or eliminated. I have always admired the e30 at the tender ages of 8-14 and convinced my father to finally get a 3-series coupe in 1992, although unfortunately it was by then the e36. I learned to drive in this e36 and have been a BMW fanatic since my eyes first saw the e24 6-series in the mid 80s.

Like I stated, it was just an idea. Sorry!

Chill Bro, I think you are reading way into it. I never said anything about taste. I never stated whether that looked good or not. I never insulted you in any way. I was merely trying to explain it to people that don't understand the reasoning or the look.

I was just stating a general trend which you do fit into since you are under 30 and do like the Eurostretch look. Those are the facts. There are no opinions stated. Just the facts.

I personally do like the Eurostretch look on some cars including yours. I just personally wouldn't do it since I'm a performance junky and would rather gain a bit more slip angle on more meat.

I like it when people do their own thing as that is what car customizing is all about regardless if other people like it or not. Do not let me nor anyone else get your panties in a bunch over such a subjective topic.;)

Yes i noticed it. Is there now a singer called Mika?
Mika is in Finland man's name which was quite popular in the '60's. For example former F1, now DTM driver Mika Häkkinen was born in September 28 1968.

Don't forget the less popular Mika Salo driving for Ferrari in Lemans these days. ;)

Of all the colors in the world I picked white. Thats got to tell you something right there.

"Weightless" white = Race cars = more stickers. lol.

I personally like white as that is one of my favorite colors. My preference would've been to get a white E30 if you couldn't tell by my name. ;)

I wouldn't call you a snob because you make good reasonable argument and you speak from experience (and you've helped me in the past ;) )

Wow, thanks. ;) If you have the inclination and determination then more power to you as all your points seem valid for your situation. As for post-maintenance and upkeep, it should be a lot better for you considering you are just painting it white.

Just wondering why no one has bothered to do an "BMW Art" car theme as long as they were brushing paint on their cars. This would seem like a good time to do one if you were the creative type.

Why would you want to do this? The car will handle worse, will bottom out regularly, may damage the dampers (stroke length will be too long). Your profile is wrong too, you should have about a 50 profile on 205 section 16" rims and I think the tyres are too narrow for the rims.

Personally, I'd spend money on getting a 225/45/16 tyre of the best possible quality.

It's called style and bling points for some of these guys. All they want is the looks and that Euro stretch. I'm guessing the op is probably under 30yo if my guess is right. It seems the rage to have a certain Euro-stretch coupled with a low stance for a lot of the younger cats on these boards.;)

Good luck on the roller painting. Personally, it's too much work and there are ways you can achieve the same results with a lot less labor.

I think some people will be amazed at what a $60 Harbor Freight spray gun can do. As for the paint, Dupli-Color has come out with "Paint Shop" quarts of auto paint that is reasonable in price. Dupont also has a lower line of paint called Nason but I wouldn't recommend it based on my experience. As people say, it's mostly in the prep and post finishing.

I've painted 3 cars before and learned a lot from each one. I just can't imagine putting in 5+ x the amount of labor for a roller paint job for a < $5k car imho.

I know everyone's budget and living conditons are different but I would rather spray it or take it to a suitable Maaco than to do a roller paint job. Also, considering this is a BMW, you'll always encounter those elitest snobs although I tend to agree when it comes to roller painting a BMW.

Also unless you have clear coat, the paint will fade over time. I did a 1 stage enamel job before and it looked really good for 3 months after wetsanding and buffing. It was too much maintenance to keep it looking good thereafter.

I'm just trying to save you some headaches but you can obviously do as you wish.
My $.02

Well boys.

All the driving tests are done, the written test finished.  Insurance is taken care of.  Need to get 2 new g-Force T/A KDWs and finish installing the sub woofer and its off to college.

I don't know who is more excited me, for sharing in the excitement or my son who gets the excitement.

I will keep this thread updated.

I don't know if installing a sub is a good or bad thing as that is one more thing that can go wrong with potential thieves. I would caution your son on taking the proactive approach and not play it loud anywhere he lives or is about to park as thieves will be watching him and waiting for the right time to strike.  I guess living in a big city, I'm always thinking anti-theft mentality.
;)

^^ Good point!  I am not ure what the banner size needs to be but if I am correct sheep will crop.

I still have yet to take a pic of my car yet because of T-storms in the afternoon.  Wheres your pic?

I think we should establish one of the standard banner sizes because I don't think sheep will have time nor want to put forth the effort to crop everyone's pics. It can be a lot of work.

BTW, I just did an alternate header design: http://www.m42club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=29915#post29915

You might want to state the banner size unless someone is going to take the extra effort to crop all of them.
