Suspension / 5x120 swap
« on: March 14, 2009, 05:34:39 PM »
Not to be redundant guys but i am considering the same 5 lug swap. From reading the material here, if i understand it correctly is that, one would need 96+ m3 complete front and a  TI complete rear. Am i correct in this?

The next question is, Couldn't the e30 m3 entire suspension also work. Providing that one could find a complete suspension that someone was willing to part with

Suspension / Need Advice on suspension
« on: March 09, 2009, 04:00:49 PM »
I have a 91 318is and i am looking to upgrade the suspension to the e36. However i do not want to be the guy that buys unnecessary parts or spends too much for such a swap. So can someone tell me who has done this swap before all that is entailed. I really do not want to make any mistakes.

Thanks
Sean

get you a block of wood and a pry bar and try not to break the timing cover, it is a common problem

Well the page was informative. However the pry bar and 2x4 that i used did the trick. The Pump out in three peices. All still together but broken. I know that i should suspect that pieces of metal are know in the cooling system. So my question is does the water hose method work or not

Engine + Driveline / need water-pump help

Okay so i was driving down the road the other day when i heard a loud squeal from my engine, then it suddenly stopped. Turns out my water pump had seized and the belt broke. I let it cool off and limped home without overheating. When i got home I began to pull the cooling system apart for an overhaul while i had it drained. Now for the problem; after removing the 3 10mm bolts and one 6mm hex bolt from the water pump i started to thread the bolts through the 2 flanges for removal. Right when it felt like the pump was going to give both flanges broke. I have since tried using a prybar on each side of the pump as well as removed the radiator and condenser from the front of the bay to try pulling through the grill. I even attached a come-along  to the tree in front of my car and tried pulling it out with that. With the car in gear and the e-brake on the car actually slid forward with no movement whatsoever from the pump. Am i totaly screwed or has this happened to anyone else and you figured out how to get it out? Thanks and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Jon

I am having the very issue of the water pump refusing to come out. what worked best for you?

Help me please! Removed the thermostat housing only to find no thermostat. No big issue. I will just buy another along with removing the mounds of silicone and a broken screw. But for the life of me I cannot understand why, when I took all the bolts off the water pump and used the push off holes ( just the name i call them) the bracketry around those holes broke. I am left a water pump that refuses to come out.
