How-To's / Deleting throttle body heater plate.
« on: June 21, 2011, 08:47:52 PM »
What is best?

Option 1: Capping of the input and the output of the TB heater plate.
or
Option 2: Installing a bypass between the input and the output of the TB heater plate.

Thank you.

How-To's / Blower motor and resistor replacement (with pics)
« on: June 03, 2010, 09:07:18 AM »
Great write-up. I've done this twice on separate occasions:

#First time: I had a b*tch of a time getting the clip back on the blower motor. Lots of sweating, bending and cursing.

#Second time: I removed the resistor pack, it just pulls out, before putting the clip back on and it was much easier. The resistor pack interferes with the clip.

****Conclusion put the clip back on the blower motor when the resistor pack is off.

General Topics / Coolant leaking ..not sure where its coming from.
« on: April 12, 2010, 09:35:42 AM »
I have the same leak near the steeting rack/AC compressor. I’m looking to find out where it’s coming from.

I loose about 250ml of coolant a month since I bought the car 18 months ago.

I did change the thermostat about 8 months ago and it leaked after the installation. I tightened the bolts and I was hoping it would stop. I need to have a look.

I don't get any water in my oil or vice-versa.

Here is link where we can see the gasket:
http://timthurber.com/tcpg.htm

The gasket does not exactly look like the picture in realoem. Looks like this:

Question: Can a damaged profile gasket produce a slow leak or does it cause a giant puddle?

Engine + Driveline / Thermostat and Coolant Bleeding Issues
« on: October 01, 2009, 10:42:20 PM »
Whats your part# on your thermostat?

My needle goes a little past half. I bleed the system and all but I can never get it below half.

I dug up the previous owner's record and found out that the thermostat that is in my car is a 92 degree celius (part # 11537511083)

Car should have an 88 degree celius thremostat (part #11537511580)

Engine + Driveline / Fuel leak
« on: September 24, 2009, 01:22:10 PM »
Don't forget to loosen the fuel line bracket (on the other siide of the intake) before you try to remove the leaky fuel lines. I used 5/16 fuel hose that I got at an automotive store.

Engine + Driveline / Bleed screw (radiator) leak help PLEASE
« on: June 22, 2009, 06:40:58 PM »
I got the same issue. The threads on the radiator are gone.

I used "teflon tape", i.e. the stuff you put on the threads for plumbling, around the bleed screw and it fixed the leak.

I got it in there and its not leaking. I might try the re-tap the radiator when I need to get it out.

They sell a Brass one on bimmerspecialist.

Electrical / wire harness adapter
« on: March 09, 2009, 09:13:05 PM »
Here is the wire harness adapter that I found:

Metra Electronics Corp. - 70-8590
http://www.metraonline.com/products.aspx

Looks like there is no need to splice the wires in the car but rather connect this adapter to the aftermarket piece.

Looks like i'm going to go aftermarket:

Check out the pros for this one HU

1 - German
2 - Amber light (light color is controllable)
3 - Reads SD cards
4 - Blutooth if you get an extra piece

Do you have the link to the adapter?

Bottom line, I'm trying to use my Ipod in my car. I currently have a stock Pioneer radio.

Looks like I have to upgrade to C33 or C43 to use a Dice device.

Thanks.
