Electrical / temp gauge not working...now heat isnt working well??
« on: February 03, 2009, 11:24:52 PM »
I just replaced my thermostat and the antifreeze as I was having the same problem- ran cold, warmed up slow, not much heat inside the cabin either. New Stat came with O ring but did not come with a gasket so I made one myself from a tracing. Works great- needle is dead center, warms up quick. warm toes and nose. Stuck German thermostat came out; Chinese Stant went in. The END is nigh....

Electrical / M42 Inconsistent Air Fuel ratio- How to fix?
« on: February 03, 2009, 11:10:50 PM »
Well, it was not quite solved. Despite a new boot that was not cracked when we put it back on the dyno there was still a blip that was lean. But Dan Miller (Miller Performance- Abbotsford BC (http://www.millerperformancecars.com)  was able to remap to add more fuel where required. The Power and Torque curves now look right, and feel even better.

Electrical / Weird Wiper Problem Solved
« on: February 03, 2009, 10:59:30 PM »
:)My would not stop wipers problem has been solved. Fault was a  malfunctioning Module (It is black with a blue plug end. Part number is 61.35-8 366 381.) but you don't get to see that till you get it out. It is cleverly stored under the dash and behind the glovebox. The screws for the removal of the airducts are obvious but one nut is underneath the glovebox light. With that out the whole glovebox assembly popped out. A module from a wrecker solved the problem. Some had thought it might be the wiper, but if the wiper will park, it is the module. Not sure why I was worried. It never rains in British Columbia.

Electrical / Weird Wipers
« on: January 28, 2009, 08:42:10 PM »
My 95 3181 has a strange wiper problem. the wipers will run at normal or double speed but not at the intermittent- in that position they run at normal speed. Washer works. But they do not turn off until the car is stopped and the ignition is off. Then they will park if they are in the switch off position. I have heard this may be the wiper module or the wiper motor. Any suggestions as to which to replace first- I hope it is the module...........

Electrical / M42 Inconsistent Air Fuel ratio- How to fix?
« on: January 28, 2009, 08:32:02 PM »
Hi all: I just joined your Club after buying a 1995 E36 318i . Yesterday I had the computer remapped and chipped with much success (up to 142 hp at the wheels) on a new Mustang chassis dyno. Both in the initial run and after the chip mods we had the strange anomally of the engine running lean (15.1 to 1) from 4000 RPM to 5300 RPM and then it was back to 13.5 to 1 all the way to shut off at 6300RPM, just like from start to 4000 RPM.  There was a dip in the hp curve and a torque wave in that lean zone, and now that I know it is there I can feel it- sort of a flattening out. Anyone any idea what is causing this? thanks very much.
