Engine + Driveline / Re: M42 into my E21, some engine questions.

yes e30 and e36 oil pans are interchangable. 2.5" would probably be minimum piping size.

Engine management / Tuner Pro XDF and ostrich 2.0 problem
« on: October 18, 2012, 02:17:35 PM »
I have an Ostrich 2.0 and tuner pro RT. I have downloaded the bin and XDF from tunerpro's website and uploaded them to the tuner pro and the ostrich respectively.  If i just load the bin into the ostrich the car will start and run normally.  if i try to make any changes in tuner pro the car will die and not start until i load the bin into the ostrich again.  Has anyone else used the XDF that is provided  on the tuner pro website? Does anyone know what might be causing this problem?

do you have pictures of how you mounted the shifter.  i am in the process of swapping an m42 into a 73 opel manta i have the mounts made but was looking for a simpler shifter mechanism than the e30 one.

lots of info on tunerpro here at http://www.ecuconnections.com diy tune forum

I guess i should have been more specific.  I was wondering if anyone has tuned with the bin and xdf for the M1.7 DME 175 for the e30 M42.  I have installed tuner pro RT v5 and have an ostrich 2.0 on the way.  I just wanted to make sure the maps defined are correct and do not cause any problems when tuning.  I still need to get a reader/burner to pull the bin off my ebay chip to see what maps they changed.

I was wondering if anyone has tried to tune with tuner pro? I downloaded the bin that has the same software version as my chip and loaded the xdf and the maps show up and look pretty simple to tune other than there being several fuel and ignition maps you must tune.  i guess i will be ordering the ostrich 2 soon to see what can be done. it seems pretty simple once you have a complete xdf and can map trace. These maps are what i am seeing; all fuel, all ignition, rev limit, cold start enrichment, you can even scale for bigger injectors.

next to my girlfriends 328is.

don't worry about the white brake ducts and spoiler all is getting taken care of.  If you can believe it the trunk and hood were both spray painted white before i got ahold of it.  luckily it had been waxed before they did that so it came off pretty easy.

A lot of cowboy installers, instead of using a proper loom from the supply panel behind the glovebox, will wire into the hazard light switch or other stuff related to that circuit. When you removed the stereo did you remove it's wiring?

That's probably what's causing it.

sounds about right the PO was deffinately a cowboy.  it was hard wired into some wiring directly behind the radio.  are there wiring diagrams online?

I just bought a 91 318is and i am in the process of removing a lot of bad taste things done by the previous owner.  i removed the cd player today as it worked intermittenly. I have nothing plugged in to the cd player plug, and now my turn signals don't work.  They were working right before i uninstalled the cd player.  could there be any wires involved with the cd player wiring that would cause them to stop working?
