Thanks I managed to find those! I'm going for the .120 which if I'm correct is 8.89:1 with 1 bar or boost with megasquirt a wideband a decent size oil cooler and intercooler I'm thinking this should be safe?

Hello

I've got an e30 m42 motor for my 2002 which came from a friends 318is

I have a Holset HY35 with a 7cm exhaust housing for quick spool
A flange to make the manifold
My own made boost plenum
Megasquirt v2
And I'm waiting on intercooler oil cooler etc

Two main things,

Are ARP head studs the best bet?
I was looking to use a .120 multi layer steel head gasket is this the best option?

I plan to run around 10psi to see how it fairs up with a wideband and knock detection and megasquirt

If anyone can advise me on where to get the head studs and gasket in the UK I'd be grateful

Engine + Driveline / Injectors and cams question
« on: February 03, 2015, 03:44:09 PM »
Hello I'm currently fabricating the intake manifold to boost my m42 with an eaton m62

Basically I was hoping to have this done so I could build it back up and trial fit it in the bay to make some mounts up.

But beforehand I was hoping to source some suitable injectors. I was hoping to achieve around 300hp and I've came across a few options people have used but I'm really unsure what to look for in this department. Also FPR do I need to upgrade this too?

This sort of lead on to my second question... What sort of power is realistic before changing the cams? I'm pretty new to m42s so I'm not sure how capable they are. I am considering a top end rebuild with different cams but I'm investing a lot of money into the car this year so if it would be capable of somewhere around the figure I wanted it would be great to leave that till next year

Wow! Very interesting!

I'm currently building a setup from a merc (m62) onto and m42 for my e10.

I really didn't think standard ecu would even be an option I've been looking at standalone!

Do you have any photos of your pulley set up? And sizes? And belt tensioning?

Are you planning to get it on the rollers soon? I'm not sure what sort of injectors to use yet also!

Also the bypass system? Have you used it or are you just running it under boost constantly? I've gone for a different set up with the manifold as I'm wanting to run an intercooler going I to a plenum as I was worried about tempratures

Swaps, Turbos, Buildups / My m42 SC build
« on: January 30, 2015, 11:45:57 AM »
I'm currently building an e10 and I've got hold of an e30 m42 engine and box

My plans are
Eaton m62 charger (already got)
Plenum manifold (currently building this)
Bigger injectors
Standalone management
M20 clutch and SMF

Basically I came here to share my progress and get some advice from the experts!

Currently I'm building the manifold and it should be done on the next week but my first questions are...

What are the best injectors to go for il be aiming for high 200s-300hp
Whats the preferred standalone management on here?
Which m20 clutch and flywheel do I need? Part numbers?
