Engine + Driveline / ignition problems...car dying...
« on: May 28, 2007, 04:36:27 PM »
on thursday night i was on my way home from work and started the car let it warm up for 1-2 minutes b4 driving and everything sounded fine.  i got out of the parking lot and hit a stop sign and as i started to turn after the sign my car just died it wouldnt start up after that, so i had it towed home and ive been trying to diagnose the problem ever since.

so far:
- my spark plugs came out soaked in gas, so im thinking coil packs might have gone bad, but they look fine.
- my fuse #3 also looks like it melted...wtf?
-  yesterday I tried cranking the car again and it ran VERY rough and sounded like some cylinders weren't compressing
- my friends dad suggested that my timing could be off, although he hasn't seen the car yet (i dunno if this might be the problem)

any ideas as to what might be wrong with it?
TIA for any help.
- Mike

i was tracking my car yestrday and one of the instructors blew my radiator out and it seems to be leaking everywhere and needs to be replaced.  my friend has  a spare m20 radiator which he is willing to let me have.  is it possible to replace the m20 radiator with the stock one, given that i make room for the extra resivoir?  does the m20 radiator cool better than the m42? tia - mike

my check engine light was never working since i got my car and i figured it was a blown bulb.  i took out my cluster and put in a new bulb, but it still doesnt work.  i even swapped one of the already working light bulbs into the spot where the check engine light is supposed to go and it still doesnt light up.  while  working around where my ECU was i did notice some cut wires and i read in either the forums here or on r3v that a wire is supposed to connect to the CEL light.  does anyone know what is wrong with my car? i want to check my fault codes to see if there is anything wrong with my car that i do not know about.

TIA, Mike
