For Sale / The Ultimate COP FS Thread
« on: May 08, 2011, 12:46:45 PM »
I installed my kit today - will take a pic and post it.  I'm not 100% happy with my wire routing yet but I will play with that more when I get some time.

I too am very pleased with everything about this kit - quality and fit are excellent and the instructions are clear and simple.

I think any gains or improvement in my case came more from replacing 193k mile coil packs and original wires with the new COP coils and also installing new plugs.  The car definitely runs smoother and has better throttle response. :D

Thanks for a great product!

Oh how I wish I was still home in Indiana, i'd be driving to ohio this weekend ;)

people should realize that it's just as easy, if not easier, to swap the ring gear from their stock flywheel onto the M20 flywheel.

Or just use an M20 starter with the M20 flywheel (if you have the M20 starter already)

Engine + Driveline / Oil Weight and Normal Consumption
« on: May 09, 2010, 09:47:10 PM »
I have 180k miles and have been running Mobil 1 15w50.  Oil and filter changes every 5k.  Last year we did 8 driver school track days with the BMW CCA.  I have a small leak in the timing cover and burn / loose about 1/2 quart in 5000 miles.

General Topics / Upper Starter Bolt - Stripped Head
« on: March 28, 2010, 07:57:20 PM »
I'm replacing the clutch on my E30 318is and I have all of the trans bolts broken free except for one - the upper starter bolt.  The clutch was replaced once before and the shoemakers who did it stripped the heads on most of the bolts.  I used lots of liquid wrench on the bolts and I was able to get enough bite on all of them except the upper starter bolt.  I can use a wrench to turn it with the nut on the front but the head is badly stripped and I can't get a grip on it.  I'm going to try vice grips next.

I guess if vice grips don't work, I'll have to take the intake manifold off and cut the nut off.  Or grind the head of the bolt off.  But neither of these seems like much fun.

So my question is ... are there any options that I'm overlooking?

Thanks in advance

hmmm....and all I have to do is find a '90-'91 M20 starter???

Whats special about the '90-91 M20 starter ... same P/N is listed for M20 '325i' E30s: 12411726508?

(and bump for a good deal on a single-mass flywheel)
