Interior / Airbag Wheel Removal

the white piece of plastic that you said u ripped out, was it attached to a wire that could be accessed from the bottom of the steering column? because i cant even turn my wheel anymore without that wire catching, snagging, or making or horrible noise. i cant seem to see it too well from the  little hole at the bottom of the steering column, and im hesitant to pull the steering wheel to mess with it before i know what that wire is and if i can remove it...

Exterior / clear coat flaking off
« on: September 29, 2008, 05:15:29 PM »
my clearcoat is comming off.

its flaking on the hood and its cracked and scratched every where else. it looks horrible. some one before i bought it took sandpaper or something to the back qr. panels, some primer is showing, but i think its mostly clearcoat thats scratched. only the passenger side looks halfway decent (i think it was repainted on that side, you can see some running on the bottom if u get under the car). Im going to respray the car, but i have to wait until the summer.

in the meantime, what can i do to help the car look a little better? 18 layers of wax? scrape off the all the clearcoat? both?

M42 Reference / Request: All hoses under intake manifold..
« on: September 23, 2008, 08:29:13 PM »
they are bent a certain way, 4 ways out, and a metal tube goes threw two of them. i dont really thing you can just replace them with the hose at auto zone or w/e. only place i found that has them is that bma auto parts that have ads on this site.( 10 bucks each for the weird shaped ones , then 16 for the idle control one i think ) you might get away with a auto zone tube for the idle control valve, but thats about it.

thanks alot, i found it!

i only have wd-40 so ill pick up some electronic cleaner or something to clean it with tomorrow.

but it always idles bad, its just worst when first started,( even when its 78 degrees outside, or ran all day) and it always dies, so i hope cleaning it will help.

Engine management / icv location... lol

i can't find the icv... lol. i have a cheap manual on every e30 except m42s, and it doesn't say where the thing is, only how to check it and ajust it.

i looked for 10 mins... i can't find it. i looked alot in the intake area, i don't see it.

i have to be overlooking it, only thing i wanted to do was clean it to see if i could improve my idle, becuase my car doesn't seem to want to idle when first started.

can some one please give me some directions on where it is, and if its hard to remove, replace, & clean?

id like to do this tonight, so i don't have to wait forever for the idle to get better in the morning.

Engine + Driveline / Car Running in "Limp Mode" on Start Up
« on: September 15, 2008, 06:03:53 PM »
im dealing with this too. i have to keep on the throttle for a minute or so just for it to idle or it dies. (i feel like a dumbass in my high schools' parking lot, lol) a mechanic suggested that the mass air flow sensor was the problem, so i bought one off Fredk. i sprayed some o2 sensor cleaner ( or something like that,) in my exsisting m.a.f.s. and it helped a little until i turned it off and let it sit. it makes me think that the m.a.f.s. is the problem, so i cant wait until my new(er) one comes in.

i cant even go past 1/4 throttle before it starts shaking and stuff (no transision, just automaticly), i always have to shift to a lower gear ( 1st or 2nd) to get up even a small incline, (those two gears hardly have any problems, first is almost normal, but after higher rpms in 2nd and all gears on up, it like my car has turned into a huge back massager)  i don't even use the highway anymore, i can't accelerate to the speed limit in time to merge. and i can't have the A/C on and let the car idle, cus it will slowly drop rpms then die.

ive fixed the vacuum leaks i had when i first bought it, (i only saw 2 hoses comming form the m.a.f.s., i replaced both).

any ways, i guess that in that huge post i was trying to say to mess with the m.a.f.s. a little bit,and please keep posting what you do, and if it helped or not, so i have an idea of what to try next : )
