Electrical / HELP: My alternator is dead...
« on: October 05, 2008, 05:06:13 AM »
Hi, my alternator just died today and I am desperately in need to get my baby back on the road! I have a '94 318i and I want to know if I can use any other alternator (e30? M50?) on my car. Any help will be appreciated!!!

Sweet! Thanks again man, I'm pretty new to the M42 (ex M50 owner) and there is a lot of things I am not familiar with.

Is this possible? I just have a few coils off a 325 I sold and I was wondering if they would work.

Engine + Driveline / M30 flywheel on M42?
« on: August 21, 2008, 08:07:59 PM »
I have recently replaced my clutch with a clutch kit from an M50 (e36 325i), but I find it too heavy, and I am really disappointed at the way it revs up (SLOW). Searching around, I found a thread talking about swapping an e30 325i flywheel and clutch kit, because it is lighter in weight.
What I am curious about is if this will also work on the e36, since the thread was intended for the e30.
I am not familiar to the M42 engine, and I'm not sure what parts are interchangeable -engine/tranny/diffwise- between the e30's and e36's.
Here is the thread:
