General Topics / Those with 13-Button OBC's Installed...

Reading and burning the EPROM should be easy.  I plan to install the full OBC, so I'd be very interested in the plug if your run off some duplicates.

How-To's / 325is check panel in M42, the easy way
« on: August 03, 2008, 11:23:14 AM »
As soon as I can attack a relatively intact 325 in a junkyard, I'm going to try to figure out how to get the full check panel working.  I think I'm nuts...

Interior / Steering wheel/airbag ?

No, it won't. The splines are different and the airbag controller in the the e36 is a bit different. I believe e34 wheels will work though. Or maybe you should just ditch the airbag ;)

I'd rather just have an M-Tech wheel...I don't think the inspection guys would be too appreciative of a missing SRS system, though.

That's what Euro ellipsoids with city lights are for.  :D

Nicely done! I have yet to figure out where and why BMW put mud flaps on a small car... Seriously does anyone run mud flaps on an e30? I guess i could see why IX would have them but still pointless IMO

haha just noticed this spammer posted this is INTERIOR.... whats an interior mud flap for? Maybe for when he craps himself?

If they weren't so blinking expensive, I'd put them on my car front and rear.  They keep the rockers and fenders much cleaner.

Suspension / Question for those w/e30 M3 Springs
« on: July 06, 2008, 01:02:54 PM »

I've got the E30 M3 suspension in my convertible. I pulled the spring pads so mine is lower, but as far as spring rates go I think the M3 set up is the perfect balance of more aggressive handling, but very streetable.

Get the fronts on, you'll love it.

How did it change the stance of your car?  My cabrio is sitting with a gap of less than 1" over the rear tires, but just over 2" over the fronts.  It gives it something of a chin-up look.

Excellent data. Thanks for sharing it.
I think the EPA numbers are really unreliable for this car. My all time worst tank was 26mpg and I was flogging the car down highway 1 along the northern coast of California. Most tanks fall in between 29-31mpg. 90% of my driving is short city and highway trips of no more than 5-10 miles at a time. I tend to avoid rush hour and it usually takes me about 2-3 weeks to cover the 340-360 miles when my low fuel light comes on. My all time best was 35mpg on a highway only tank. I only buy 87 octane.

The EPA numbers are horribly unreliable for any manual transmission vehicle.  Either whoever is doing the testing has NO idea how to drive a stick, or someone there is being paid off by the automatic transmission manufacturers.

When mine is calm, it's always dead center or a bit to the right.  Nowhere close to red, though.

MK VIII = Lincoln?

Yeah.  I'd almost be afraid that it would inhale a little 318i radiator.  :p

I have a Mk VIII fan in my Corvette - when I test-ran it with a set of jumper cables off of my battery, it sucked up small gravel from my driveway and threw it at me.  The sucker moves serious air.

The fans used in Lincoln Mk VIIIs and Ford Tauruses (same motor, different shroud and blades) are impressive, but power hogs.

My manual says five quarts without filter.  Another half quart or so for the filter housing.

Different how?  The only struts that should be different are the early M10-powered 318s and the M3s.
