Suspension / Whoops, wrong springs. Will they work?
« on: January 08, 2009, 08:51:51 PM »
Thanks guys.

How it affects the front end is the question. Obviously it won't drop like I expected, but as long as it doesn't handle oddly I'm fine with that. I'm more of a function-over-form type fellow. ... I guess I'll just throw them once I pick up the shocks/stutrs on and see how it goes. Worst case scenario I have to switch 'em out for the ones I intended. It's not a DD anymore, so I can tinker.

Suspension / Whoops, wrong springs. Will they work?

I recently got a deal on some H&R sports, model: 50406. Thing is, I could have sworn I checked the part number before buying and that they were the 50404 for the 318is. Regardless, H&R shows the 50406 are suited for the six-cylinder e30s, but also the M3. ... I'm wondering if I can still use them on my 318 without making it either look or handle oddly. My plan was to change out the stock suspension with the H&Rs and Bilstein sports later this spring.

Thanks for your input!

Mine is pulling a complete freak out constantly. I wish I had it working so I could use the time, but I can't decide if I want to bother replacing it when I change out the dash.

How-To's / Change the timing chain tensioner the easy way

nevermind, problem solved. Exchanged the tensioner and installed per the directions in this post, and Olie (that's my car ...) hasn't sounded this happy since I bought him a few weeks ago.

I'm about to change my tensioner, but the new one I pulled out of the box popped into two pieces. Not a big deal, but it doesn't seem like it will compress all the way together, the ring about a third of the way down the part that compresses the spring won't allow it to slide all the way in. Is this the way it's supposed to be?

That was stupendously easy. I feel dumb for asking. ...

Much appreciated. I'll try that in the morning. If anything goes wrong I'll certainly hold you completely responsible. :)

Interior / Removing door panels...

Sorry for this total newb question, but what's the best way to remove door panels without damage? It seems like I could just give 'em a yank and they'd be off, but that always seems like it would damage the fasteners.

I'm trading my existing ones for a part this weekend as well as buying an all "new" interior, including replacement door panels. Just need to know how best to get the panels to their new owner without making the FUBAR.
