Engine management / Crankshaft Position Sensor?
« on: August 30, 2008, 10:02:57 AM »
You are right a typing mistake, It is suppose to be 587ohms. The Bentley manual's limits are 1280+-10%. But should this be a problem?

Engine management / Crankshaft Position Sensor?
« on: August 29, 2008, 05:32:14 PM »
I have a '91 318is E30..... I have had an engine hesitation problem for quite some time now, until finally today it is to bad to drive. At idle it is fine but when I rev the engine it hesitates and gets worse as the engine gets hotter.

I checked the Camshaft Position sensor (the top connector) and it is fine at 1280 ohms but the crankshaft sensor (bottom connector) is only reading 0.587 ohms. Could this be my problem? Has anybody run into this before?

Thanks

Electrical / Orange Connecter??
« on: August 29, 2008, 03:27:20 PM »
Today I was fiddling with my hood release lever and I had to pull down the cover over the pedals. I noticed a flat Orange connector that was not plugged into anything??  It is a Five pin connector with wires as follows, BRN/RED, RED, VIO, BLK/GRN, WHT/BLK........ Does anybody know where it goes??
Oh It is a '91 318IS E30.
Any info would be much appreciated! Thanks....

Engine + Driveline / Fuel pump priming?
« on: May 20, 2008, 06:14:39 PM »
I just found out that the fuel pressure is actually normal 40psi.......

I am still having the same problem! Argg

The car starts but when I rev the engine at idle or under load, the car sounds like it is missing or something and no power!
The strangest thing is, the check engine light does not come on at all and there are no codes???

Any suggestions where to go next?

Thanks!!!

I recall hearing a buzzing noise from the fuel pump, when you turn to on? but know I don't hear it.
The car does not like to start that easy! Also when the gas pedal is pressed either at idle or under load, the engine accelerates really rough with an occasional back fire! Hmmm

Engine + Driveline / Fuel pump priming?

I have removed the fuel line on the fuel filter (engine side), turned the key to on position--- No fuel pressure? Shouldn't the fuel pump prime?
I turn the key to crank and there is fuel pressure?
Is this normal?
