I also swiss cheezed my airbox (cause i bought anothetr oem. airbox and MAF for ~ 2EUR :D ).
Im pretty sure that the throttle response increased.Sound is also 100x better than stock.Im going to drill more holes to scare people away...

I drilled 76 4mm diameter holes, like in this pic:

Engine management / throttle body water plates, necessary?
« on: August 17, 2008, 01:42:48 PM »
Im also planning to remove the heater plate, but the winters might get very cold here in Estonia (-30c is possible, but usually +2 to -10c). I dont think that anything bad will happen, but lets see:p

General Topics / "High Flow" Custom Exhaust suggestions...
« on: August 11, 2008, 07:17:16 AM »
I replaced cat. and stock resonator with Simons Tubex resonaator. 2,5" (lenght ~25")
The rest of the exhaust is stock (not for long).
It only sounds a little raspy when the engine is cold.
1500-4000 rpm sounds almost like stock exhaust.
4000-7000 rmp ( i have a chip) its louder but not 2 lound or like a ricer.

i was suprised how restrictive the stock cat. is, my  m42 revs up much faster now. + i recycled the cat. and got 105 Eur for it .

And i gained low end torque also.
Im planning to replace the stock muffler with simons free flow muffler.

Sorry for my English

I have a Simons system on my -90 318is, It sounds pretty much like the stock exhaust, just a little more noise and bass to it. Im not amazed, but not dissapointed either.

Any change in performance?
I think that the cat. is the most restrictive part of the stock exhaust.
Im pretty sure that im going to remove the cat. , but i hate raspy sound.
It so hard to get m42 to sound right.:(

Alright, so you must be in Sweden too.  I was wondering where on God's green earth Tallinn was!

Assuming Simons ships to the U.S. of A., I would image it would be cost prohibitive to pursue.  I don't see an English order link anyway.  Dang.

No, i dont live in Sweden.:p Im from Estonia link: http://www.balticadventures.co.uk/WebImages/Maps/BalticAdventuresMap.jpg

The Simons Sportsystem looks intriguing.  I can't figure out the exact country of origin, or how I might go about ordering from them.  There's not a whole lot of English content in their website.

Simons factory is located in Sweden.:D
