Love the car, that is a most perfect "stance".  GLWS!  timothymcn, the shifter part # is

25 11 1 220 823 M   It is a generic older style shift knob that doesn't come with an emblem.  You can put in a variety of emblems including the roundel, the motorsport logo, or a 5spd shift pattern.  Cruise ebay, I found an Alpina reproduction logo and put it on mine.  A "poor man's" alpina knob in a "poor man's" M3

Looks good, Dave!  Wow is that new muffler tiny compared to the stock one!  The tip looks lovely though.  I am looking forward to hearing how you like the springs (and seeing pictures of course!) as well as the e36 rack.  I recently put an e36 m3 rack in mine and I love it on those windy Pittsburgh roads.  I am sure you will too!

Looks awesome!  How are the drop-hats?  I have heard a lot of mixed reviews on them, and how they can mess up the shock travel and cause binding mid-turn.  Any experiences with this, and if not, what brand are you using?  Thanks!

Evan

That is quite a list of work you have done!  I am just gearing up to do the e36 steering rack swap here soon.  How is it without the power steering?  I am currently running the stock rack without power steering and I like it just fine, however I wonder how much the effort will increase with the quicker ratio....Thoughts?

Engine management / Dinan chip with COPs, issue?
« on: March 04, 2012, 10:13:02 PM »
I run the exact set-up (dinan chip, cop) that you are talking about.  I have had no issues at all, and it has been about 9 months and maybe 1,500 miles since the cop was installed.  There seems to be no difference at all in reliability.  Hope this helps!

i have been scanning ebay long and hard.  MikeDE, does your alpina pop on like our more recent cars or is it a thread-on.  I havent been able to find much info on whether or not there are adapters out there to use the older thread on style onto ours.  I would imagine not, being the thread-on style is probably a smaller diameter.  MikeDE, you wouldn't happen to have an easy photo on you to see what it would look like?  thanks!
