For Sale / M42 stroker for sale feeler
« on: April 25, 2020, 05:25:35 PM »
Hello.
As im doing more racing than getting this project done, im thinking of selling it.
Here's a list of what we are talking about.

- Stroker crank 88mm (Longnose) preped to suit the build.
- King Racing Main bearings
- King Racing connetiong rod bearings
- Manly forged connecting rods.
- S50B32 pistons decked and with new rings.
- Bored M42 engine block to suit S50B32 pistons.
- MLS headgasket.
- Ported M42 head.
- Lightweight lifters.
- Schrick valve springs.
- Reground cams.
- Stock valves.
- S50 ITB's modified to suit the head.

As the engine was a school engine for BMW technicians back in the days, so never been driven, only run i a bench and then sat i storage before i boughet it and started my project
So the engine exterior parts looks like new, and i have checked all threads to be sure they were OK.
Needs to be put together.

Off-topic discussion / Re: Is M42B18 same in E30 and E36?
« on: December 02, 2017, 07:37:42 AM »
They are not 100% the same....Just did this swap, timing case is different, oil pan is different and the e36 oil lower oil pan will not clear the e30 steering rack, intake manifold is different (it has DISA, e30 does not, so e30 ECU does not), and CPS placement is a little different. Overall very easily swappable just take a few things from you e30 M42 and move them over and you should be good to go!

The E30 didnt have Knock sensor as E36 Also, not in Europa atleast

Not sure how they compare to the M50 rods but the GSR rods do give you the 21mm small end that you were looking for:-)
Make sure to keep some pocket depth on the piston tops for future use of higher lift cams.

Cheers,
~Ralph

Yeah so it both have the 21mm small end and right lenght.
But isn't the GSR rod a press fit?

I just went through your build thread, holy moley!  :o That's incredible! It's nice to see an E36 Individual too, there couldn't have been very many of those built.

Sorry to thread-jack, just had to pass along the compliment. Please return back to your engine build.

Thank you!
Yeah it was my first car to but back in the days and first after buying it i found out it was an Individual with lsd and ofc the pretty Dakar colour.
So it got a pretty big value to me cause of its was my first car and its a Individual, thats why i startet to restore the body so i can be good as new! :D

No worrys!
Going for the B18c Rods instead and shaved a bit of the Euro piston after i found out my self, by reading one of your answers to another person where you described the formula for calculating the DCH  :D
They also look to be a bit more slim and lightere than the M50 rod?

Swaps, Turbos, Buildups / Con rod bushing

Hello
Im building a Stroker M42 with the M47 88mm crank, 135mm M50B25 NV rods and the 86mm S50 pistons.
But ran into a problem - The wrist pin for the S50 pistons is 21mm and The M50B25NV is using 22mm.

Anyone knows where i can buy a bushing that is 1mm thicker or what have people done when running that combo?
If im correct the new bushing should be 23mm on the outside and with a 21mm hole and 22mm long?

I also head that i could take the cam tray for det hydro lifters from S50, and cut to of them out so ad did som machning to it an i would fit M42 head perfect so i could use S50 hydro lifters?

Anyone ever done that?

I head something about M52 i think, there were lightere and could handle a lot more rpm than M42?
But dosent solid lifters require cams for solid lifters to? dont think the cams from hydro lifters work very well on solid lifters?

So...
I have a M42 that im going to rebuild with some extra horses and moved rev limit to 8500rpm so i guees i gotta go for solid lifters cause of the weight and i dont think the hydro's can keep up at 8500 rpm?

But... can i just use the M44 head or is there a way to convert the M42 head to solid lifters?
