Engine + Driveline / Poly Engine and Tranny Mounts
« on: August 18, 2008, 11:02:39 PM »
Let us know how they are. I was going to get a set but I've heard horror stories of ie's engine mounts melting even with the heat sheilds  on.  I've also read on bfc about them shearing in half after a few thousand miles. It seems kinda strange that they dont cost that much only $99 all other poly engine mounts like uuc and others seem to be well over 100 so why are these so cheap i wonder?

General Topics / Brake issues!?!?

yea i'm going to screw around with it tomrrow actually today and see if its the booster i highly doubt it though since it feels basically the same as the original mc that i replaced. I guess i could of got a bad one serves me right with going with the cheapest one i could find on the web.  It is the same brand that auto zone and advanced auto sells.  I got it from autopartsgiant.com. They are starting to really piss me off i have called and left messages and sent emails and have got no replies.  its been like three weeks its time to get nasty.  I am going to just report them to paypal or my credit card company.  I've had my friend who is a benz tech and a bimmer head check it out and he thinks the mc is bad. I also went to another local european car specialist who i actually bought the car off of he agrees with me on the bad mc. I'm just bummed that i've missed 3 auto x's over this crap.

General Topics / Brake issues!?!?
« on: August 01, 2008, 04:42:02 PM »
Ok so my brakes started acting really bad and the pedal became really soft they would randomly cut out completely then come back. There is no loss of fluid at all.l I thought it might be the master cylinder so i replaced that and the problem has actually gotten worse. The pedal will drop to the floor and if you pump it once it stiffens up a ton and the brakes seem to work fine then it slowly gets sh***y again. My rotors and bads are barely worn out at all so i don't think they have anything to do with it. I think i may have gotten a bad master cylinder there is still no loss of fluid. I also bled the brakes about 3 times 2 manually and once on a power bleeder. any input would be great. i really don't want to take it to a shop since i'm poor and can do most of the work myself anyway. Its starting to drive me nuts i've missed two of my local auto x's figures this happens during the auto x season and not in the winter when i have nothing better to do then work on my car.

Engine + Driveline / Differential Compatability

they are all compatible. There are two diff sizes medium and small. Our 318 comes with a small case 410 but you can put a medium case in which i have done.  The only thing you need to do to make it work is ajust the driveshaft all the way forward and then everything bolts right up.

Do you have an e36 or e30? I have an e30 318 diff laying around takeing up space it only have 70000 on it when i took it out for a medium case lsd.  I am fare away from you but if you get desprate let me know.  If you have trouble finding a small case diff you can but the medium case in which is alot easier to find for cheap. You just have to ajust the drive shaft forward and everything else bolts right up.

I'm having the same issues.  It takes forever to heat up and the gauge gets  just out of the blue.  Keep updates comeing after you put in the new thermo. I think that is my issue as well.

Engine + Driveline / lsd swap
« on: July 04, 2008, 11:23:50 AM »
if you get the medium lsd diff it will go right in with some tweaking.  The two things you need to have/do or it will look as if the diff dosn't line up at all are you have to adjust the drive shaft all the way forward sine the medium diff is bigger.  You also need the medium case axle flanges since the small case ones stick out farther to compensate for the small diff.  If you need any more info just msg me.

Engine + Driveline / E30 M3 Diff 4.10 LSD
« on: June 10, 2008, 12:33:55 PM »
Do it!!! I put a medium case 4.10lsd in my e30 m42 and yes you can feel the extra weight but like stated above it is in the right place.  All the changes i experienced where for the good handleing was improved dramatically and the extra weight helps keep that happy e30 rearend in place.
