something is out of alignment. Is that the original driveshaft on the car? has something been changed?

it can make the chain slap the guides. You can search online for it. If you have no record of it being replaced, you should replace it.

Could be your chain tensioner. It is located on the passenger side at the front of the engine on the exhaust side of timing chain case.

I agree, it sounded normally to me too.

not sure where you live and the climate. Normally these older cars will need something thicker on the cold side, like 10w or 15w. I dont see this being an oil starvation issue or that oil is not lubing some of the parts to cause the whine. I know the sprockets can get worn and this will cause a noise but not sure what it sounds like.

how is chain tensioner, was that replaced? how is your oil level and what spec you using?

maybe worn guides. THey are plastic so whine might be related to chain on plastic. Does it get louder when you increase engine speed?

Can you confirm what side the noise is coming from. Have you used a stethoscope on parts of the engine?

Front was ok because the fender arch is not as low as in the rear. Also more clearance with suspension. I am on HR sports. Not supersports like you.

I had 16x7.5 et20 with 215s and would rub in the rear. I am lowered and had to roll my fender. I am now with 205s and no rubbing.

So after 32 year and one week from my car coming off the factory line, the hood shock was replaced. It went bad a few weeks ago and the hood wouldn't stay open if it was just touched or while on a slight incline. I opted to get the OE part as it was just few dollars more and it has the work E30 labeled on it, which I fine cool. here is before and after:

Been busy with life but still enjoying the e30. After searching 3 years, I finally found the elusive air intake box snorkel.
Here a picture of the gap where the tube should go:

I sourced one that had a little bit of grime build up and the bellows had two tears. I did the bellow repair with crazy glue and RTV as I found online, and then gave it the SEM treatment. SEM Soap, gray scuff pad and then SEM trim paint. It came out pretty nice.

And here it is installed:

Nice workaround, it is good to know that the E36 valve is a workable option here. I did my BB/vacuum hoses a while back, and thankfully the check valve was still fine.

How is the Stromung cat-back?
My original CV was still working, they are bullet proof unless oii/fluid gets into them. But it was very faded and removing the old hoses as I want to keep showed me how brittle the plastic was so I threw it away.

Exhaust is awesome. I just did a 2k mile trip to the Vintage and it was nothing crazy compared to my old one and good volume on the high way with no really droning unless you step on it. I got two compliments while doing the tail of the dragon again on how it sounding ripping through the curves. Now to find a good SS polish to keep and protect it.
