I'm going to try to let the pictures speak more about the condition of the car rather than go through every little thing that has been done to it maintenance-wise. I've got every receipt since 2000, going all the way back to the first owner. The car is a driver. Everything feels tight and works as it should. The AC kicks on but needs a recharge. I've never used it. I know it's cliche but I'd drive this cross country without hesitation. I've driven SLO to SD and back quite a few times. It cruises well on the highway but as you all probably know, the most fun in this car is going on the windy back roads. This car handles beautifully. If you're a serious buyer, our test drive may include one of my favorite driving roads here in SLO. Enough of my rant. Here are the pictures.

has fitted dash cover

This car has the best records of any I've owned

Electrical / Re: fuse 19 woes. help please!

Sorry to revive a dead topic but DesktopDave, you're the man. A while back I looked at the door jamb boot that covers the wires. Popped it off and it was corroded. removed corrosion and made sure contacts were clean. put it all back together. now fuse 19 hasnt blown in months. Thanks a lot, I wouldn't have suspected that connector there.

Electrical / fuse 19 woes. help please!
« on: May 22, 2013, 02:29:11 PM »
A few weeks ago I bought a 91 318is and have been enjoying it a lot. The issue I'm having is that my fuse 19 blows sporadically. Last time it blew I was going down the freeway, hit a dip and then my mirrors started going apeshit and then the fuse blew. From the repair manual fuse 19 is for the aux fan, interior lights and power mirrors. If anyone can point me in the right direction to diagnose this it would be much appreciated. Are there any common issues with the previously mentioned systems. Also if anyone has a good wiring diagram for the 91 e30 318is that would also be helpful. If i'm beating a dead horse please link me to somewhere where this is discussed. I've searched this site and on google a few times and haven't been very successful.

Thanks in advance

Matt

Today I drove a few hundred miles from SLO to LA to pick up an exhaust that popped up on CL down there. Drove down. bought it and had it installed. the guy who i bought it from had the same exact setup on his car and it sounded really good so i bought it. The piece had never been used and all the stickers were still on it un burnt. I think I got a good deal picking it up for $230 when a new one is around 500 bucks. It's a sebring and is  made by remus I think. after a few miles of break in it sounded very good. the first few revs were really raspy but as soon as it had been revved a few times it went away. by the time i got home it purred and sounded very similar to his car. I am happy with the sound. The stock resonator is still being used. its not raspy or a fart can or anything like that. it's quiet at idle but as soon as it revs it sounds great. the tone is pretty deep below 4-5k rpm.

the muffler i took out sounded like a maraca when i shook it. inside was fully rusted out.

This is next. Differential seals. It's leaking and I dont like it

Got the skid plate on a day after I got the car. It's a lot more reassuring driving the car knowing that there's something between the ground and my oil pan 3" off the ground.

I left the center bolt off because a tab on the plastic bmw dust guard goes where that bolt would be. I like the coverage the plastic provides on the sides from water/mud/grime flying up in there. 2.5" of clearance

Drove the car 120 miles this weekend mostly all back windy roads. getting acquainted with everything. I love it

Earlier this week I sold my 74 2002 because I decided that college was not the right time for a classic bmw and I needed to focus on other things.

While doing some business at 2002haus, Rob told me about 318is e30s and I decided that one of these would be a lot better for daily use. He hooked me up with a guy who was selling and gave me the rundown on the car. Within 24 hours of getting payment for the 2002, I owned this 318is.

Crack free dash

The car has records going back to its original owner and has always been adult owned. I just bought skid plate to protect the oil pan and will install when that arrives. Future plans are a mason engineering front strut brace and a MarkD chip. Aside from that I plan on leaving  it how it is, enjoying M42 power and San Luis Obispo back roads. I love how the thing revs compared to a 40 year old M10. That's all for now. I'm happy to be a new member of the club.
