« on: August 31, 2010, 06:09:36 PM »
I have all 4 set of Bilstein Sports with less then 2k miles on them. Need HD's because I don't want to lower my car. Also could use H&R OE sports (springs) and a set of sways that are upgrades from stock. Thanks.

I had one that allowed oil into the plug wells because of bad valve cover gasket rings. It then shorted out the plugs firing. Just pull the wire cover and look in the plug holes.

Can anyone enlighten me as how to remove the two bolts at the top and under the dash? They have no head to grip just a cone shaped head. I am trying to get the pedal set out but need more access to the bolts. Thanks in advance.

I rebuilt mine with new lenses from bmwlenses.com
Just break out the old lenses and clean the grove. then lay in a new bead of silicone and set the new lenses in to dry overnight. I then placed a protective clear plastic over the lens.

I own two of them. A 1988 5 speed and a 1990 auto. Both are great for our winters here in Denver and the mountains. Drive trains are pretty hearty if you keep them maintained. They get from 20 to 24 mpg and have all of the standard E30 needs. The automatic drives somewhat anemic compared to the 5 speed but with comfort seats, is better on the highway. You tend to put spare parts away that you know might be needed (like a front drive shaft or front axles). They are in great demand in this area. Have been offered $8,000 for my '90 car. The guy doing the buyers guide should add a special section for IX cars. When I drive one and then jump in my M42 I can't believe how light and nimble the 318is is. Hope this helps a little but if you have specific questions then PM me.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Back seats are stock original and the fronts are re-trimmed. The guy matched the material almost perfectly and did a great job on simulating the vertical lines. I think it looks better because it has more depth with the stitching. Any way Darrell's upholstery in Wheat Ridge Colorado did the work. So props to him and I am sure he would be interested in doing anybodies who needs this kind of work done. Just a note - he did have my seats for a month!

We did a complete paint job. Took the car down to bare metal. Disassembled everything including glass, sunroof, trim, bumpers, lights, etc.  I did the dis assembly and most of the prep work and then the re assembly. My friends body and paint shop did the 5 step primer system and the color and clear coat, then the buffs. $2,000 total. There is more pictures on the "General" area under post your picture. Also one in the interior section. I was quoted $8,100 for the same job but me doing no work. I rebuilt things like fog light lens and added some new trim and gaskets for windows. It sure is a nice one now as I started with a low mile California car.
