Hi
Manifold still available?
Thanks

Anyone with more info on swapping a 6speed gearbox in an m42?

I can get a 6speed from a diesel 4banger, i see that it may work with a dual mass m42 flywheel but i'd rather keep a lightweight version.
If someone has more info :)
Thanks

I actually meant the intake butterfly
I have seen mods from 666fab that were selling an adapter to install an m50 butterfly.
I dońt think i'll bother with the s50 ITBs since the FI will yeild some good numbers with just a good plenum.
What do you think?

Yup, if the swap is sold as planned i will be installing the m42 back in the bay ;)
Honestly, i'm shooting for 300 hp, more or less.
Something reliable that yields about the same performançe as the v8 swap
I have been looking at garrett turbos, i'm thinking a gt28 or gt30 would be more than ok, but then i'll have to find the rit trims
My buddy will build the exhaust manifold and i'm planning on building a plenum with m50 or m30 intake.

Swaps, Turbos, Buildups / What turbo do you have on your m42 set-up?
« on: June 09, 2014, 02:32:46 PM »
Hi,
I am looking at different turbos for my set-up and i am wondering what you guys are using or have used and some feedback.
I am still hesitating to build a 2.1 stroker before i boost it, but i guess that won't make much of a difference.

Thanks for all your feedbacks

Swaps, Turbos, Buildups / Specs on m42 plenum for turbo set-up
« on: June 06, 2014, 02:27:19 PM »
Hi guys
I currently have an m62 swap in my 318is but i recently decided to swap back an m42 in it ;)
I am looking at building a serious turbo set-up with a friend of mine of is a pro welder and can build many parts for me and his m42 ;)
I have taken a look at many plenum design but haveńt found any info on dimensions
, specs anywhere.
Is there a post or a member that is willing to share info?
I am planning on build a serious engine possibly with a stroker and cutom made exhaust manifold and plenum
Any info would be appreciated as i'd rather ather info before starting
Thanks a lot

Alright, so I guess it's going to be an MLS gasket to slightly drop the CR and be safe.
What thickness would you recommend to be closer to 9:1 CR?

Thanks again for all your input ;)

Thanks for your input guys ;)

TheBrelon, I didn't know you were hanging around here :)

The goal is to be able to boost 10 to 15PSI and reach in the 220-230HP, therefore I'm thinking it will be either using other pistons with an identical bore, or using an MLS headgasket.
ARP studs are planned as well.

I'm thinking that using the right HG to drop the CR to 9:1 or so should allow a good boost while keeping a decent performance at low RPM.

Anyone know of pistons in an 84mm bore that would drop the CR? maybe ETA pistons?

Any one has advice on this?
I read that pistons are approximately 3/8" thick which seems enough to me to remove some and lose some CR, have any of you experienced?

Thanks
Franck

Swaps, Turbos, Buildups / Piston work on M42 turbo

Hi Guys

I wonder what would be the best option on an M42 turbo:
- Piston work to lower the compression ratio
- Swapping other model pistons to drop the CR

Have any of you done this?
I am considering an MLS Cometic HG but would rather work on the pistons instead if possible

Thank you for your input

Hi Guys,

Not new to the forum, just lost the login/password and no way to get it back, so i created a new one. My previous Login was Naika as on all the other e30 forums  ;)

I'm in the process of building an M42 turbo after swapping my 318is with an M62B44 and 6 speed tranny. So there goes a new project :)
