For Sale / 92 318is E36 Boston Green Coupe partout/sale as a whole car
« on: September 06, 2013, 04:59:14 PM »
SOLD

ok I wrote a long description and somehow lost it..so lets try it again...  Was going to be my project car but I just don't have the funds to do it. I'm seriously going to miss this car but I could literally use the money to work on my VW TDI.

I have a 92 BMW 318is Coupe for part out or you can buy the whole thing.  Just throw me an offer on the entire thing if you want it.
BMW was bought in Germany when my pops was stationed there and made its way to me.  Title is in his name still, didn't have it changed over to my name because when I was about to the car messed up.  I also the original key for it and I believe I have the spare somewhere around my parents house.
I'm selling whatever you can think of from this car, so just ask and I'll check the condition or let you know if its messed up/broken, I don't sell crap or broken parts. lol.  Also shipping is payed by you, the buyer.  I send pictures of all receipts with tracking numbers showing proof of shipment.  I'm very honest and truthful when it comes to selling parts.  I just want to sell the good parts and than if no one wants the shell it can go to the junkyard.  So when you ask for prices, its not going to be expensive.  Literally besides the entire car no parts will be over $100-150 and thats just thinking of things like the head sold separately,  just pay for the shipping.

ENGINE  The head had been rebuilt 5 years ago when the timing chain had broke and bent the valves.  It has probably 10,000-15,000 miles on it. I started working on the car again three years ago and got it running again but the car overheated.  The water pump was new so I'm not sure what caused it but it could have been from the cooling system not being bled correctly.  I'm pretty sure its just the head gasket that messed up.  I turned the motor off immediately after I heard the pop and saw steam from the engine bay.  Never restarted it again, since that happened.
I also have a COP KIT if any M42 guys want it.  Its still in great condition.  If someone wants the entire motor, I'm selling it for $250.

Transmission is pooped lol.  That crap just needs to be rebuilt or thrown away lol. Just being honest.

EXTERIOR
Surprisingly besides the clear peeling and the small dent on the top of the hood near the windshield wipers due to not being aligned correctly, the body is in great condition.  No other dents. From bumper, side skirts and rear bumper is in great condition.  Only rust is on the metal stripping around the windows.  Checked the wheel wells and under the car, no rust at all.  So its a great body for a swap.  Exterior wise nothing except paint would need to be done.  All lights work, the foglights work but the glass is cracked on them.

INTERIOR
Seats are ok, they just need to get reupholstered but I rarely see anyone jumping for non M3 seats..lol  Dash is in great condition except the glovebox. It can be seen in the pictures. Door panels are shot and were painted over with spray cans (shake my head..:nono dad tried to clean them up..didn't turn out well. lol)  Passenger door latch and window works.  Sunroof works. The driver side latch does not latch due to the door lock actuator so I can sell the whole latch assembly and you just buy the $20 used from someone else. Motor is shot on the driver door. Anything else just ask and I can check.  I also have an extra, brand new window regulator.  Oh and seatbelts are all good. Also headliner is pretty much new. Carpets, are stained as can be seen in the pictures.
Trunk is in great condtion.

Anyways here is three pics I took the other day.

Hey y'all I have a complete M42 COP KIT for sale.  I was going in the process of keeping the M42 engine but decide to sell the whole car and just sell these few extra things I had and use it toward my other project.

M42 COP KIT with 4 Coils and 1extra.  If I can find the other extra coil it will come with 2.  Everything works and the 1st coil already has been modified to fit.  If you want pictures of it just shoot me a PM or text me at 910-584-739two.  Only reason I don't have pictures is because the car is located at my parents house right now.  But they live about 15mins away and I can quickly get them for you and send a text or PM back with the pictures.

I'm asking SOLD

I also have an extra DME green label ending in 990 and a complete wiring harness for a M42 motor. Everything works, just trying to get rid of it.  SOLD  I can separate them from each other if needed.  I have pictures of both.  Just shoot me a text if you want pictures. 910-584-739two.

I'm trustworthy and I always send pictures of shipping reciept with tracking number to put the buyer at ease of mind. Also shows proof of me shipping parts out.  I usually ship USPS or UPS.

Engine + Driveline / sickly e36 with phantom cel fault code
« on: December 11, 2008, 03:24:06 PM »
yeah that was the next thing I was going to say to check.  I didn't change mine or inspect it but that's because I changed the coils and the problem went away.  But yeah the car was handed down to me after my older brother abused it lol.  But he took it for granted..but hes changed his ways.  I seen your other thread about a rebuild, your on the same path as me lol. Planning to rebuild but going the turbo route.  Well again good luck with finding whats causing the problem.

You know what I've had the same problem with my 92 318is.  Its been sitting there for two years in my driveway because my coil pack died..but after I replaced them and finally got it running again. BTW i did the COP conversion that I bought from rob_e30.  He sells them on this forum.  well anyways the CEL was still on.  I went for a really long drive to see if it would still hestiate or bog down but it didn't.  But its making me angry that the CEL won't go away.  Two years ago I didn't know how to pull the code.  But I tried to after I got the car running, and it wouldn't pull up the code or flash. The light just stayed on.  Well anyways, I think it might be your coils.  If you change them out and it works let me know!  I hope this helps lol even though I was rambling on for a while.

Edit:  Also other shops usually don't have the right things to do a diagnostic test for the 318is for some reason.  Or atleast thats what it seems like.  You might want to try the dealership, even though they'll charge you a freaking arm and a leg lol.

« on: June 20, 2008, 12:00:35 AM »
:Dwell i know an easier way..You can buy a regular 32mm wrench from sears and works perfectly fine.  Well look at my drawing and you'll get the point.  This will save money and it will work getting the fan clutch off and on.  Also this can be used to get the fan pulley bolts off.  Hope it HELPS! Just PM if you need any help!:D

Heres the drawing!

Swaps, Turbos, Buildups / Injectors - with \ without Air inlets?
« on: May 17, 2008, 07:28:45 AM »
I'm rebuilding my engine, getting it ready for boost, and I just took off the intake manifold and it has no extra hoses coming off the ICV like in the picture you posted above.

Hmm well lol okay then I don't know if you don't have them or not.  I guess you could look at the injectors to see if they have an extra part sticking off like in this picture

http://www.motortraders.net/groups/attachments/1_88_t1194u07.gif

But if your ICV doesn't have extra hoses coming off it going towards the fuel rail then you most likely don't have air-inlets.

Also thanks on the info about the DASC kit, I was thinking about it but I've decided to go the turbo route, hope to see your build  or atleast some videos of your car on here whens it done.

Well from the this link :http://www.motortraders.net/groups/group.asp?group=1&menu=88 (it was just posted in another forum by someone else, but it says that the M42s that were produced after 1/94 they have injectors with an air-inlet in them.  So if your car was produced after 94 then it has an air-inlet, but if it was before that then it doesn't.   Also where did you order your DASC kit from? I thought they had stopped producing them or are there still kits available?  Well hope that link helps.

Honestly I think I know why he stopped posting but I could be totally wrong lol.  ( This is what I think happened or what he was thinking) The setup or "kit" he made did really well in his mind(even though he didn't get to drive it long.)  Then he noticed  that he did it so quickly and "cheap" that he probably seen a way to make a profit.  Then he noticed an easy way to make more money and lol decided to stop sharing his info and will start selling the kit on ebay.  Ok I know I could be WAY off but it doesn't seem farfetched right? Or lol he got the idea that it still wasn't fast enough, he would still need to put ALOT more money in it to get a BIG power gain and decided to sell.  Anyways lol I think the first scenerio is what most likely happened but oh well.  Also 318kid you can see some videos of it just go to the ebay site before the bid ends and look at thte videos on there.

General Topics / e90 4banger? 320si
« on: April 11, 2008, 02:37:10 PM »
yeah I seen this in another forum, I can't remember which one but this 4 banger is beautiful!!! lol to bad the M42 couldn't come with that kind of power or atleast something close to the S42.  Actually if you could find this engine that would be a nice swap but the electronics probably would be difficult.

How-To's / Engine failure due to pan gasket shift/bolt loss (e30 only)
« on: April 10, 2008, 05:32:52 PM »
Yeah just like Asserti said  make sure you do that timing chain job, because I remember when my dad was driving his E36 318is it just suddenly shut off.  It was weird because he said he didn't hear anything luckly he was pulling on our street right when it just died.  He didn't know at the time what exactly happened but when they took the engine out and opened it up they found out that the timing chain slipped.  Intake valves were bent and it was just a massacre lol.  Anyways I have the 318is now but I wanted to see does this also apply to the E36 M42's? I just want to make sure because if it does I wanna get this done before I finally start her up after a long years wait.

Vendors / GB / COP Conversion Brackets
« on: April 02, 2008, 04:49:06 PM »
I post this in the other COP thread but i think i'll post it in here just incase no one sees it in the other thread.

Will the COP bracket and the M54 coils work for the E36 M42? I didn't see anyone with an E36 saying anything yet (unless i missed it) Because I've been trying to find some cheap coils because the car hasn't moved for a year just because the coils died lol (and now I'm ready to drive her again) If they do will because I'll be sure to get them this Thursday.
Edit: Also if they do fit you'll just have to drill where the holes are at to be able to screw in the hardware that comes with the bracket? (just making sure)
