Greetings!
Hello from Germany. I am an American expatriate living is Southern Germany.
I recently picked up a 1990 318IS. Driving Japanese cars (please don't get mad) all my life, I havent the slightest clue on BMW's until people started asking me if my car was a real "IS" and not "badged". A friend of mine told me to look up my car VIN in realoem.com. Sure enough, the car is indeed a real 318IS! It's not in the best shape though. There is a lot of corrosion on the
rear wheel wells and on the doors. The previous owner didn't really care much for the car. When I picked up the car, the first thing I noticed was an " ASIAN" theme inside. The seat covers were adorned by Dragons and Chinese calligraphy, a Chinese amulet hung from the rear view mirror- he said it was for 'luck". He attempted to put brushed aluminum door handles, Audi style LED daylights and the shift knob was a disgusting silver/ fake carbon fibre combo. The best one was the sticker "devilninjajdm.com" that was on the trunk. YIKES! JDM! I took out 2 big bags full of trash including half eaten, hardened hamburgers, dried fries, unknown amounts of monster energy drink cans and a lot of cigarette butts and 22.00 Euros worth of coins.
Sad as it may seem, the car came as a good value because despite of all the junk and ugly motif he had going on-the car was mine for FREE.
Glad to be on board!
