Swaps, Turbos, Buildups / JB Racing flywheel swap trouble
« on: November 07, 2007, 09:57:15 AM »
See if they can do you a deal on the clutch and pressure plate as they said it would all fit ok.

I'm so glad i found a supplier in the UK for these as it took ages to get the right one for my car.

Same flywheel i've got and had.

You'll need a M20 clutch and an M50 pressure plate.

Sounds like your supplier is a load of rubbish as i wouldn't accept that flywheel as its meant to be perfectly balanced and that going to affect that.

The Z3 1.9 rod goes straight in no problem, doesn't need anything bending either. The Z3 2.8 can be used but i found it made gearchange to notchy when cold and you do have to do some bending.

Never heard of anyone fittingan E36 rod though.

Engine + Driveline / is it possible to lighten a stock flywheel?
« on: September 17, 2007, 06:56:14 AM »
Do all US cars definately come with dual mass flywheels as all the M42s i've come across in the UK have had single mass flywheels which you can take some weight off.

Engine + Driveline / MM Pulse Chamber Inlet Manifold

The more info the better guys, reading their explanation it does sound like it could make a difference.

I may have to look into getting one made as it'll be far too exspensive shipping one over to the UK.

I was just wondering if any of you have any experience of MM inlet manifold?

I've just had a quick read about Febi's car but he doesn't mention anything about the manifold.

Cheers
Dave

In the UK the old style plates told you how old the car was and where it was first registered, the first letter identified the age and the final three letters identified the location, then the numbers where random, there could either be 1, 2 or 3 numbers. There was a system before this which was reversed.

The current system came in once the above had ran out of possibilities. This starts with 2 letters specifying the location then 2 numbers specifying age and then 3 random letters.

There was another method pre 1963 which i don't understand. You are also able a buy a "personnal" registration, the only restriction to this is that you cannot use a registration that makes your car look newer and it must follow one of the registration methods.  So you can;t just make up a work and have that as a registration.

Hi folks, finally got around to joining the site!

Owned my iS for 3 1/2 years now and during that time it has changed quite a bit for one reason or another. This was the first BMW i have owned but i have since had a E21 316, 325i M-tech 2 kitted touring, Alpine white 318iS breaker and an E30 318i runabout but through all these i have stuck with the iS!:)

Spec,
Black Sport Leather Seats
M-tech 1 steering wheel
Front iS lip spoiler
M-tech 1 rear spoiler
15" BBS wheels
13 button OBC
Map light mirror
BMW tweeter pods
Smoked Hella headlights
Clear front and side indicators
Bilstein P36-0335 Front and B36-2027 Rear shock
KW sports spring 35mm drop
E46 cab rear top mounts
Powerflex eccentric control arm bushes
Twin bar strut brace
Full system powerflow stainless exhaust
Goodridge braided brake lines
Plenty of ICE

Plus plenty of new standard parts.

At Dunkirque port in France on the way to Le Mans 24hr this year.

How it looks at the moment

Had a chain guide brake up on the wy back from Le Man so pulled the engine out and sourced a replaement which is waiting to go in. I have order a JB Racing LW FW which i am currently waiting for.
I have also been trying to source a Z3 stering rack to fit but to no avail at the moment, i have some custom made pipes to make life easy when i come to fit one.
Once it is back on the road the old engine will be rebuilt with possible FI being taken into consideration.

Engine + Driveline / How can I improve throttle response?
« on: September 03, 2007, 08:26:05 AM »
Removing the heater plate on the throttle body is meant to make a difference as well. Yet to get the engine in yet to see the difference yet though.
