On Friday got new gearbox installed. Also put on a number of polyretan mounts and engine aluminium mounts. Next tried to put aluminium mounts for gearbox also... its not doable. Also gearbox broke because it has uber weak mounts on it. To make it work the gearbox should be reinforced first. And a friend of mine who makes 1000+ hp cars occasionally in his workshop told me he never uses aluminium mounts for gearboxes, that wont never work. Ok, welded the gearbox together again and installed it with stock mounts. When all was finished i tried to start the car... wtf the car wont idle at all, and works like with 3 cylinders, wtf, ok reset... same thing, damn. The problem was one vacuum hose had flewn off, jeeeze. Got that fixed and started the engine.... ummm.... its rather insane, the vibration is all over the car. I tried it on Saturday on a racetrack, yes i think there could be a little power gain there tho. But the vibration is nuts.

I assumed that vibration will be quite insane, but handeling should have improved quite a lot. No inertia forces caused by engine movement. Do you have any pic's of transmisson form where it got broke? Did it brake when you were driving? I think aluminum subframe and differential mounts are also needed to use aluminum transmission mounts. (I think too much flex from rear axle broke you transmission)

Thats not the original paint is it ?

PS your rear tyres are mounted wrong way.

I want to see it all assembled too. It looks better with every piece i add.

Yes it's not original paint, searched from paint samples.

These wheels were just mounted to one side to get better pic. (Not mine. And tires are mounted correct, these wheels are both front ones 8,5". Rear ones are 10" wide, wanted to put them for photoshoot but offset was wrong, and only had 20mm spacers). I haven't decided yet what wheels i'll buy. All i know yet that they will have big lip. (Borbet, Keskin, Azev, Brock, Bbs, Schmidt, Ronal, Oz, Ats, Rh...)

How much rpm can the alu flywheel handle ?
My engine goes up to 7300 rpm, is it safe for that ?

I think it is safe, because most racing cars use them and they rev atleast 8000+rpm. And japanese high revving engines.

Only lowerpart because i think it looks better, something like this. Want to get these sideskirts too, look awsome.


Aluminum flywheel because i might get it even cheaper than m20 conversion.

As for brakes i totally agree with you, they are complete MUST for serious racing. Before doing engine you MUST have good suspension to keep car on the road, and good brakes to stop the car.

Why dont you want to use M-tech II bumpers set from http://www.tuning.lv ? You can drop-off a lot of weight with them..

I had this plan, but not for this year(limited budget). Next year will do it.
Some of next years plans:
Rollcage? 50/50
M-tech 2 front/rear(only lower part)
Stroker engine
Racing clutch
Aluminum flywheel
Upgraded brakes

Looking really good. By the way i'm also getting adjustable camber/caster plates.

As for process, half of the car is ready for painting, little bit sanding to do. Hopefully will get it painted next weekend.



My car will be painted by a good friend, who is real pro in this business. Here is his latest design Golf. Custom hood, grille, spoiler and of course custom paint.

Looks like fun build, but sad that the body scelecton is so rottend..lot's of late night hours on welding it. But hope that you end up whit a solid car, i'm sure you will. This cage is awsome, and front strut too...

What spring, cams and valves are you using?

Nice. But still little more to remove under handbrake, rear side panels, doors, and so on.

Cool stickers on rear windows!!! Especially "Weld it, Burn it". Can't wait to get my car painted and put all kind of sticky stuff on it. I'm thinking about sticker front numberplate too...lose little weight:D

That looks very hot.
I had in my mind also to paint black from the sideline (no gray tho). I also have a VT from a while back about it at home. I think it suits very nicely for e30. I have to change plans i guess, two too similar cars.
My German re-painted paint is slowly chipping off the original paint, and it needs to be repainted at some point (2009).

Ha ha ...in that case i'm happy that i posted this pic. I just love this paint scheme. But you can do something opposite to that by painting upper section black, would be quite interesting...By the way, next week i'l get 2 sets of aluminum and one set of polyurethane transmission mounts , and soon should have engine mounts, and shock mounts. Want one set?

Really nice car. I just love, that it's in perfect condition everything looks like new. Maybe one day when i get my car going, do little drift session?
