From what I have read it will work fine. Anyone else...?

Selling the clutch and fly because I'm putting an m50 in my 318 and would rather use m50 stuff. Im really just trying to clear out all my m42 items because I wont be using them.

Selling an M42 AASCO LW flywheel and Spec Stage 1 clutch kit. Low miles. A steal at $350 for both.

Also have 2 M42 Engines out E36 318is cars. One has blown head gasket, other came from a junkyard and was included in a shell I bought.. Lots of good parts. Comes with harness. Take them both AND all the other random M42 stuff I have laying around for $200 obo. I'll try to make a list of the extra crap. It's all stock stuff. One Getrag 200 trans in unknown condition out of an e36 318is.... No pics of that yet.

Hit me up with offers. I can ship the clutch/flywheel. Everything else is local pickup in VA, 20135. Thanks for reading.

For Sale / VA - FS - 1992 318is brilliantrot shell and extras

1992 318is. 233k miles on odometer. Needs work. Great project for someone with more time than me. No engine. I pulled the engine because it had a blown head gasket. I got this car as a project and was going to put another engine in it and use it to drive to work but I dont have a lot of time to mess with it and I've found another car I'd possibly like to get. The black interior is a 4/10. The front leather seats are ripped (rear seat is in good shape), door panels are kinda crappy, headliner sags, lower parts of the dash need some TLC but all the gauges seemed to work. The 5-speed transmission is still in the car, just need an engine to go in it. When I got the car it came with another engine from a junkyard that I know nothing about that might actually even work. I have no idea. Also came with an extra 5 speed trans The exterior is in 7/10 condition with a few dings and missing some trim pieces. 2 tires have lots of tread left and 2 are bald. The paint color is brilliantrot and is in pretty good shape. 25% LSD rear end from the factory and I also have one of those undercarriage braces that you can get off the vert model in the trunk. Comes with a clear title. Asking $600 for the shell with both of the engines, extra trans and some other random stock parts I have laying around.
I was planning on doing a few bolt ons while the engine was out and I picked up a used AASCO 12# aluminum lightweight flywheel to replace the stock 36# dual-mass flywheel on the M42 and I also got a very lightly used (the clutch disk has VERY minimal wear) Spec Stage 1 clutch. I'd like to get $350 for the flywheel and clutch together.

Also have a used Mishimoto dual core aluminum radiator for an E36 in good shape, no leaks, solid. Same as the one for the M3. Would like to get $150 for it.

Last but not least I have a VIS carbon fiber hood for an E36 coupe with a BMW emblem already on it. It has some slight oxidation. Could possibly have a new clear coat put on. Asking $280 for the hood.

Here are a few pics of the car. I've been working til dark lately and will get some more pics up as soon as I can.

I'd prefer to sell it all at once. If you wanted everything I'll sell it all for $1100. Come pick it up this weekend for $1000 so I can get this other car that runs. Thats like buying the shell with parts/engines/extra tranny/etc.., clutch/flywheel and radiator and getting the hood for free. Otherwise my prices are pretty firm. I need to get a gas efficient vehicle to drive to and from work however I honestly dont have to sell this stuff, it would just be convenient to get something that runs sooner. I still have my bike and truck! If it doesn't sell soon I'll just tinker with it. Anyways, feel free to message me with any questions. Thanks.

Engine + Driveline / E36 318is Need an engine. Replacement question.

Can I put any M42 in my 7/1992 318is? I need an engine and I plan on using the wiring harness and ecu that came with the car and was wondering if any of the different year M42 engines would work. Thanks.

I love the 240sx. I've owned about 14 of those cars lol. They really are good cars, even better with an engine swap and people have put just about everything in a 240. I'm really digging my bimmer though. I like the e36 lines a lot and the m42 seems like an easy engine to work on. I'm also looking forward to saving some gas. All I have to drive is my truck and it is killing my wallet. Hopefully I should have a semi sporty car that's decent on gas when all is said and done.

I got some v8 coils to put on but I just need the adapter plate to bolt them to, a semi oxidated VIS carbon fiber hood lol and im picking up a used but in good shape LW flywheel and clutch this weekend to get rid of the dual mass setup. I'd also like to pick up some mustang injectors from the pick a part to throw in. Going to redo all the coolant and get rid of the vac line mess before it goes in becauseas well as change a few gaskets and maybe a water pump and timing chain guide kit. Well that's it for now. I'll keep this updated.

New guy here. Picked this thing up a few weeks ago off CL for $400! '92 318is with a 5 speed and an M42. 233k. The body is in good shape and the leather interior needs some work but isn't terrible. The front struts are blown and it could use some tires. Has a BHG but it came with another engine, an extra trans and a bunch of other parts.
