Thanks!

The wheel is an old Mtech II, not a new one.
Its just got new leather and so on, like you said.
Bought it from a member in a german E30 board, so its not from R3v.

I changed some bearings of the rear axle.
And I also changed the O2 sensor in the exhaust pipe for a new one, was really hard to get the old one out, but I managed it without destroying the thread.

Seen on another ones M42 engine, that the ring inside the head even became lose. I think they did put it in so that you can replace it later, in case the thermostat bottles up into because of the pressure, so that the head isnt destroyed but just that ring, which is replaceable.

Do you still have the numbers, when cylinders were measured? Diameter...

Before like it shows in the graphic. Because the thermostat gets pressed against the ring inside the cylinderhead, that is pressed in.
Take a look when you have the thermostat removed, and you will see.

On the photo it looks like youre engine is running a bit to rich.
BUT, the looks also depends on WHEN you did remove the sparks. Did you drive a short distance before removing, or a normal way so that the engine really got on operation temperature.

Maybe they didnt properly measure the cylinder bores. Could be that cylinder bores are oval in top area.
Honing image / cross hatch can look fine, but that has nothing to do with the other.
I think it is better to hone the cylinders if you go for new rings, but as said, if the bore is out of the road, you got the shit anyway.
When I did rebuild my M42, it had 270.000 Km on the clock and the cylinders needed to be bored (totaly oval in top area), and for sure new honed afterwards.
What I can tell is I even used synthetic oil on brake in, (I know many said its wrong, but dont look at that now), and had ZERO oil usage on the first 1000km. Now the engine is on 4000 or 5000km, still zero oil usage.
So Iam not sure if its "normal" like your mechanic says, that your engine now drinks almost as much oil, as it used before your rebuild.
That cant be correct right? For sure it cant.

Wheels are BBS RS 001 for the front. 15x7 ET 25.
BBS RS 071 for the rear. 15x8 ET 18.
Not using spacers.
I think rear fenders are a bit rolled, since of the old 17'' wheels.
Wheels are fully high gloss compressed.

Mounted the RS on the car, with new tires.
Tires are 205/55 on front, 225/50 on rear.

Welcome, and your car looks almost like brand new from the factory.
I wonder why did you use the M44 tensior, instead of the M42 one.
Is the M44 one better?
I would like to see an engine bay photo.
