has any ever had problem pulling water pump out of m42 318is, i used bently manual, but to no avail. this water pump will not budge.
-
I had the same problem on my other halfs E36 318is in the end I had to smash it to bits and in the end it did come out

Sorry to hear of your troubles...I'm not looking forward to this myself, and it's going to have to be done.
I'm figuring I'll bolt a bit of stock onto the fan pulley with long bolts & spacers. Then the plan is to pry it loose with a very long bar.

You do know that you install 6mm jack screws in the holes provided and turn these screws in and they push the water pump out? If it still doesn't come out, then the water pump is stuck/rusted in place. I don't think using a big bar will do much as it will twist the water pump and make it stick more. Maybe if it is rusted hammering on the shaft might jar the rust loose.

I did this and all it did was break the casing so I used a hammer and a chisel to break the rest apart and the inner bit just fell out :D

I put 2 I bolts into the pump flange, ran a screw driver though them and with a pry bar leveraged it against the center bolt of the main pulley. Worked well.

On a M40 engine I ended up using a big pipewrench combined with a 1.5m pipe...Be carefull not to damage the pumphousing
-
Well, Thank the Lord I have never had this issue. :-)

FWIW. the "jack screws" need to be torqued slowly and evenly... tighten one.. then the other, repeat. Otherwise the casing snaps pretty easy.
