Title: M30 AFM work on M42?
Post by: Leo_328i on October 18, 2009, 09:46:08 AM
Hey guys,

I've done a lot of searching around and I can't seem to find much info on whether or not this is possible.

I've heard that with M20 engines you can run an M30 AFM as it is larger and less restrictive.  Can this be done with an M42?

Before you say it cant be done, consider that some people with M20s swap the chip/electronic internals from their M20 AFM into the M30 AFM and it seems to work?

I'm going to the wreckers tomorrow and am likely to come across M30 AFMs for sure!

Leo.

I've read that it would net no gains, and that on a stock M42, the AFM is not a restriction.

Plug is wrong, it would require modification.
