Title: What does this control?
Post by: fabby318is on August 06, 2006, 12:19:25 PM
Can anyone tell me what the blue relay located on the bank of three relays on the firewall controls (next to the fuel pump relay)?

It's driving me crazy as i thought it was some O2 sensor related relay and thought it would not prevent the car from starting, but i guess I'm wrong as the car will not start with the bad blue relay in place.

Thanks guys,
Fabby

According to the diagram in the E20 Repair Manual you can download here,
http://www.m42club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=964&highlight=Repair+manual (http://www.m42club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=964&highlight=Repair+manual) the relays are  Master, Fuel Pump, and O2 Sensor.

colors are not important.
the middle one (4 prong) is the fuel pump relay.
the 5-prong one to the pass side is the main relay.
the remaining one (4 prong) is o2.
