Not expert on the e36 version, but I would replace the sensor with an OEM one remove ground. The signal from the sensor hits the ECU and if something is off, everything else can then be.
My .02.

thanks for the response. Im tryin to find one at the moment
-
I get them new, and cheaper than pelican, let me know and I tell you the price. Of course used is cheaper.
-
Pretty expensive new... What can u get them for?
-
I disconnected it and got code 1215 with no change in the way its running
-
Well since this is a Bosch item, Pelican parts is the best. $70 from them. Sorry.
What does 1215 mean? Don't have code book with me now.
-
1215 maf
-
That is weird, but maybe due to the knock sensor, the ECU is doing different things and maf has to react and you get that error. Not sure what to say here.
-
I think i'm getting the 1215 code from the cracked intake elbow
-
You can alwasy try to tape it to seal it in the mean time. Duct tape works for this. Of course when you get the knock sensor, try to get elbow. I can get the boot for $21 plus shipping. Cheaper than Pelican.
-
Thanks man. I just sent money for elbow and sensor. 40 shipped i'll see what happens
-
Was that new? Just wondering.
