Title: fluids type and capacities question
Post by: Ramblin MAn on September 29, 2009, 04:47:43 PM
5 speed trans in a 91 318 IS. What is called for exactly, and how much does it hold?

Also, the rear end. Same car, same question.

And I did search, but for some reason it just doesn't work well for me. If I put in atf I get no hits at all even though I see it all over.

I've read several posts but I get conflicting info. The owners manual one of you were kind enough to send me is for the 325 which makes it een more confusing.

Well, Changed the fluids in the tranny and the rear end, but contrary to what I read in all of the threads I could find, my diff only took one quart. The tag read 4.10 90 and it is posi. What sucks is it took exactly one quart without spilling which means I opened the second 9 dollar quart of fluid for no reason. I expected it to take two but the first sqeaze of the second quart just ran out of the filler hole.
