come on then guys, your top tips for weight saving in the e30! I don't really have any tips, i run a space saver spare and have stripped the sound deadening under the rear seat/rear quarters, but thats about it so far!
any suggestions appreciated!

well... maybe?
- race battery, FUH RAZE suckas!!
- fiberglass/cf hood + trunk (I think a lot of savings here)
- ps, a/c, clutch fan delete (not sure what an electric fan weighs... also our cars have plenty of cooling)
- sunroof delete panel (for those poor saps with sunroofs, lol)
- light wheels (kosei?)
- racing seats, rear seat delete?

yeah some good suggestions there! i'd like to find out some more info about weights of various parts etc. I'm quite keen to buy a CF functional sunroof panel, anyone know of a good supplier? I know a while back there was some trouble with a group buy on s14.net, so have always remained a bit cautious, i believe its only about a 5kg weight saving, but its from the roof, which has to be the most important place!
I've weighed my stock seats and they are just over 20kgs ish each, how much does a sports recliner with brackets weigh? any suggestions for a good cheap reclining seat?
p/s has to stay for me, too many car parks ('parking lots'!) and daily use means this is a no-go. how much does the p/s weigh?
CF bonnets are expensive and problematic for insurance, but fibreglass is an option. again remaining functional seems to be key for a road car, bonnet pins are probably out.
does anyone know how much weight can be saved by removal of c/l, e/w etc? more out of interest than as something to actually go for in my car.
and anyone know how the weight of a 15" BBS compares to a lightweight wheel?
i figure with the e30 318is, weight saving is what its all about. unfortunately i have nearly 20kgs of stereo in my boot and a 5-10kg heavier lsd (medium case 3.91lsd from uk sport). thankfully the spacesaver saves almost 10kgs, but in total i'm up on the stock weight (circa 15-20kgs removed, but near 30kgs added!) :(

electric fans don't weigh that much. and its very much worth it to swap to electric from the mechanical.

from memory, my Recaros, with rails et al weighed in at about 12kg each

i think the 15s are about 15lbs ... never weighed em myself, which was stupid cos i had them sitting without tyres for ages.

I removed the AC on both 318iS's. Aside from the unbearable power & MPG losses, I just open windows if need be.
I also yanked the washer stuff...more because it was in my way and the squirters always get clogged with wax & don't work.
Removing both...leaves nice room for a turbo......
I used to have my rear seat/carpet & trunk gutted, but the noise was too much for daily use.
Oh, lol, putting alighter flywheel in counts as well! The damn thing is so heavy, just swapping it to a lighter one saves in sprung & unsprung weight!

interesting! am tempted by some mitsu EVO 8 seats i've seen. unfortunately they don't fold up so I'm not sure about entry to the rear seats, which i want to keep.

My car has gone on a pretty strict diet. I removed the following:
PS
AC
tar under rear seat and carpet
Insulation matting under the carpet
No sunroof!
Skeleton'ed the fiberglass "underbumper"
Trimmed the valance
Plan on the following:
Wilwood calipers (I already have these along wioth brackets, just need brake line adapters)
fiberglass pin-on hood
gut the under dash knee-bar. It looks heavy
Lighter seats

you had tar under your seats? thats odd... i didn't have any when i put in my new carpet...
also, if you really want to finish off your brake line adapters a hydrolic shop should be able to make you some stainless steel lines in a very short period of time...

there is tar under the rear seat, I don't know about up front though.
