Has, or is anyone, using a round screen where the headlight would be, directly in front of the air filter box? I saw it somewhere and was wondering if this "Cold Air Intake" was practical.

the stock airbox IS a cold air intake... there is really no such thing as ram air, etc.
I have a K&N cone filter with no heat shield... it sounds ok but probably costs me 3-4 hp vs. the stock airbox, esp in summer. This was confirmed on the dyno in the grassroots motorsports issue re: the E30 318is.
In general, our engines breathe fine, and in terms of flow, the stock mahle paper filter was tested to be the best.
Our cars are not... um... hondas... more or less, they were designed with performance parts from the get-go.
(having said all that, rock it your way baby!!)

I've seen a few people with this as well. I'd love to know where they got it.
Here's a pic I took of it on a 318iS (with an M50 conversion) at Road A.

It's a little rough, but the install was done really well. I offered to buy the car from the guy but he didn't seem interested.

well I just put in a "velocity funnel" but only b/c i will be boosting really soon now. For an N/A car I really don't think its will do a thing. And I really would not loose the high beams if I still had sealed beams. Ellips are pretty good but I may put some HID's on soon. I may setup a GB for em? Who knows.
