Title: Auxillary fan no low speed
Post by: tntempest on August 30, 2009, 06:40:03 PM
I have a 91 IS and my low speed is not working on my auxillary fan. Which means my AC is not working at low speeds.  I have verified that it is the low speed on the fan itseld that is not working by unplugging it behind the headlight and running 12 volts to it.  Can this fan be removed without taking off the front bumper, it unbolted it and did not see a way out.  Is there a way to fix the fan without taking it out?

Then your aux resistor is probably bad. It can also be your low speed relay in the fuse box.

If it's the aux fan resistor, here's where it's installed. Search for this download --> e30_91_modified_090512.pdf as it is the most complete Electrical Troubleshooting Manual (ETM) I've seen yet for the 91 model year. The ETM has an extensive AC troubleshooting section in it.
