I am having a problem with my E30 and am not sure what it is..
It has been running perfect for the last year and then yesterday after it was running great all day and parked for an hour I tried to start it and it was idling really rough, the check engine light came on and it stalled out. It will still start and run it just kind of sputters and wants to die.
I serious have no idea where to even start looking. I'm thinking it might be a AFM problem or something but not sure.
Do you know how to check what code the computer is throwing?
Pardon my ignorance I've never really worked on E30 BMW stuff, just Honda's.
I really need to get it fixed ASAP.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks!
Chris

Check this first, it's easy and sounds like a similar symptom except that this happened all of a sudden.
Then check over all your vacuum lines. Have you replaced your fuel filter at all? If its something more complicated search for procedures to test the ICV, throttle position sensor, cam and crank sensors, MAF, and maybe the coolant temp sensor.
You can check the engine code by doing the stomp test. link (http://e30world.com/fuel/BMW-E30-DME-Motronic-fault-codes)
