Title: Noisy new friggin brakes
Post by: M42lover on August 02, 2006, 01:20:36 AM
God damn it, my mechanic just installed german rotors and pagids up front. They are noisy as hell...  Am planning on taking the car back but have 2 weeks before that happens and the noise is driving me nuts. They did have to drill out the bolt that holds the rotors in place but oither than that what could cause this? I was easy on them to break them in and still am. very high pitched screeching mnoise on soft pedal stops, hard stops are ok.The rears are the same brands and never made a sound.
Any help appreciated.

Could be that they weren't broken in correctly.

Refer to this page, LINK (http://www.pagidusa.com/Pagidusapassenger.htm) and select brake pad bedding procedure.

You need to apply some anti-squeel to the back of the pads. The noise is caused by dust between the pad and caliper that creates a high frequency Squeel. Some aftermarket pads come with anti-noise shims to prevent this, most do not. I bought the spray on type from AutoZone, and it worked great!
