Title: ac compressor clutch dying
Post by: doitover on August 27, 2009, 07:37:46 PM
The AC compressor clutch is going on my 91 3181s. The compressor turns freely by hand and plenty of cool air when it is running, but it squeals badly.

It looks like you can't replace just the clutch, or at least the clutch by itself appears to cost more than a rebuilt compressor. Is this true?

Thanks,

I badly wanted to lose the compressor but by July I found what I'm made of, and it isn't heat tolerance.
