Has anyone had much experience with the aftermarket exhaust manifolds sold on flebay? been looking at them, as mine has a leak in it :(, but most of them are for LHD only. wat is the difference?
cheers,
Jester

i was about to buy one for my RHD and i was told by the seller that you had to bend one of the pipes about half an inch... i thought that defeated to purpose of getting good extractors lol im bout to get a custom set made for bout $400 in stainless
-
can i ask where abouts you are getting your custom one from?

"M42 Jester", how difficult is it finding an exhaust manifold for M42/M44 engines in Australia?
No one seems to have them. BMW Melbourne wants $2000 ex Germany. (WTF)
But I just found a company called HiTech Headers in Sunshine, Victoria (West of Melbourne) that sell a replacement exhaust manifold. It is not a mandrel bent header but simply just a stock manifold. I think it is going for about $400. I'll check it out this weekend. Website if your interested http://www.hitechheaders.com.au

wowie zowie, thats a lot of money
what about going to uk flea bay
-
i been to uk fleabay, us fleabay, aussie fleabay, they all have the same stuff. Australia doesn't have anything less than 6cyl headers, and they're all at least $1000. and the uk fleabay has them, but they all say for LHD only. same with the US. could go to the German fleabay, but they're expensize. guess you have to spend the money to get the goods :(

i was quotes $400 for custom headers from right price exhaust in brisbane although thats at trade price lol i can also get bmw motorsport headers for bout $600 off the top of my head... having mates that work at motorline bmw helps haha
-
are the custom made ones like the ones that are sold on fleabay? or are they like the stock ones, but made out of stainless?
and yes...knowing someone in the industry always helps :D
-
haha i havent found any custom extractors on ebay for right hand drive which is disappointing lol
-
i agree on that. hav found one seller that has headers for the 6cyl, and said he was making them for the 4s...but he also quoted me $1000 for a set :O
keep me posted on wat happens with urs...might be interested in doing the same thing myself

Just Wondering, can an e36m42 RHD exhaust manifold fit into an e30 (RHD) having m42 engine (swapped from an e36m42 from 1995)

Nope.. Been there done that. It won't clear the steering coupling...

how was the performance increase from these? and wats the price???
do they fit well?? not too close to the road?

Didn't dyno before and after. but my old extractor was a modified E36 RHD extractor (See pic)
Compared to this old extractor, the custom made extractor is way way better. The new extractor is mandrel bent stainless steel pipe with 4-2-1 design.
It's not the 4-1 design which would give you problems with road clearance.
Can't achieve equal length due to space constraint. This is almost as good as it gets.
Compared to the stock RHD, I would say it would flow better looking at Y-joints on the stock RHD extractor.
The custom extractor has a much narrower Y-joint angle which promotes better flow.
I've commented my other thread on the initial review.
I've taken the car for a long distance highway trip and can say the engine pulls a lot better from 140 to above 200. Can still go faster but i better not stress my well worn rear tyres. Will get the rear tyres replace before i try again to see where the car stop pulling on top end. (FYI, my M42 is running the E36 G220 with 3.15 final drive)
How much is it? I got made for about USD450. But subsequent units can be made cheaper...
I've taken some undercarriage photo showing the exhaust system. Will upload those later...
