Title: coolant and oil sensors stopped working
Post by: ubergolf97 on August 09, 2009, 10:26:16 PM
as the title states, the oil light is constantly on and the temp gauge gives no reading.  the car runs and drives fine.  fixed the rough idle.

here's the build up to it:

did an oil change.  no problem there.  saw all the vacuum lines were cracked and decided to delete the mess under the intake.  i unplugged the sensors from the black box they go to so i could get underneath everything to clean all the gunk.

after reassembling, those sensors are not giving a reading.  i triple checked the oil, and it is just under the full mark on the dipstick.  i tried unplugging and replugging them in, but nothing.  the CEL doesn't even come on.  well, it did for a few seconds, but turned off and hasn't been on since.

any advice for an e30 newb?

if the oil light is always on then the sensor plugs are for sure switched. check the pins on the connectors and sensors

Did this after my rebuild, sensors are swapped. That should be an easy fix.
