so im working and get a call from a friend whose father heads up the local autocross club. she says they are having an mr2 meet, and that i can come with my car for free practice. uhh, yeah. there was no line EVER an it seemed a perfect day. so i head out there and after a lap and a half, power steering is lost and my dashboard lights up like christmas tree. I shut off the engine immiediately and coasted off into a shaded area. turns out, i left the power steering belt on the track and my alternator belt was twisted off pretty good. these are two of teh belts i had just bought a week earlier and hadnt had time to put them in yet. So i fix the aternator belt which is severely frayed and missing teeth, etc, and decide i can proabably limp home. However, before i headed home i claled my brother in his 325is, with bald economy tires. We had a drift event. every single corner on each of our first runs was a drift, connecting esses and hairpins, etc. really fun stuff, a ot more fun than autocrossing (which bothers me sometimes). anyways the m20 was great and the LSD perfect, it made for some very exciting runs. after a few more runs and the coordinators getting kinda peeved that we were drifting so much (by the end it was hard not to, with blad, hot tires and excellent turn in, the back has no choice but to step out even with 0 throttle), we head back and my car get about 1/2 mile, before the belt comes off again. AAA came and my car is sitting at my mechanics BMW shop waiting for monday. Super fun drifting though.
this is the track, its quite tiny, as it is a go-kart track that the autocrossers rent.
